When I get angry about something, really angry that is. I can't make myself tell people what is wrong. Does this happen to any of you?

Yes. It's like the correct words won't form and I'll just end up looking foolish (or like I'm "throwing a tantrum") if I try to express it.

I STILL can't talk when I'm angry and I'm old enough to have a 20 year old son! I wish I could tell you it would get easier as you get older, but I can't. I'm sorry. Most people (the nice ones) will understand if you can say, in a semi-calm tone, "I'm very angry and need time to process. Let's talk ....." and name a specific date and time (in the next day or two). Don't put it off too long.

The ones who won't give you time are jerks.

Practice saying this line until you can do it even if you are madder than blazes.

Good luck!

yes! It feels like I'm a pop bottle that's been all shaken up and there's only a few key seconds before my brain gets overloaded and it's going to blow all over the place--and I'm desperately trying to get over it or find a way to diffuse the bomb before it goes critical.

I must admit I am very relieved to hear I'm not the only one with this issue.
Whenever I'm upset in some way I become mute - unable to express my emotions, thoughts, anything. I simply cannot speak before I have cooled down. If people keep asking me what is wrong I can sometimes manage to say infantile words such as: "no!" or "mM!"

People've told me I scare them, when I become like this. :(

Gah, I hope people don't think that way about me. D:
But I know my sister does. She sadly has very little patience with me. But I believe she loves me in any case.
I often fear people will leave me due to my emotional instability or I think that I should leave them.

Aren't we the lovely, troublesome bunch? 8)

Yes, all the time. and I feel stupid that I can't find the words to explain.
I like the suggestion of asking for time to think.

Yeah, it's like the words won't come even though they're in my head, they just don't out my mouth, even if I try to say them. And it doesn't even take a lot of anger to trigger it.

Sometimes I can't even ask for time to think, I'm just stopped up all of a sudden. Today I worked out a hand signal with my kids, so at least they will know and understand that I need a second. It happens to me when I'm emotional or even just really stressed. I'll see if the hand signal works, and maybe I'll let others know I work with regularly.

Me too...the words just disappear when I need them the most. :-( Sucks!
