I wonder how many aspie women this holds true for. I have the low ratio(short index finger) that can indicate autism. Do any of you aspie ladies have an equal ratio or have a LONGER index finger?

Mine are pretty equal. However I do have unusually large hands/ long fingers.

It's the longer ring finger (4D) in females that seems to show up a lot in autism, according to Simon Baron -Cohen. It has to do with his extreme male brain theory. Maybe males always have a longer ring finger, idk.

It wouldn't really be "extreme" male brain for females. It'd be a slightly masculine brain.

I still have many female neurological qualities.

Yep, I'm similar. I feel like I have a pretty masculinized way of thinking and I may also be a lesbian for the most part but I feel that I still think like a woman in some ways.

His words, not mine :). I'm not sure if the theory is still being considered or not. I think there are forum members who are more up to date than I am on scientific studies. But I agree, calling autism with females "extreme male brain" doesn't really make sense to me.

Both of my ring fingers are slightly longer than my index fingers.

Mine are about equal. I'm male, diagnosed AS, but wish I were female. My mother and sister have them equal, while my father has the more typical (for males) obviously longer ring finger.

Maybe my having them equal while my father didn't is a result of me being transgender?

WEIRD!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! ! My ring finger is longer!! :O and about the masculinsed brain, well, I dunno about that. I guess at times I'm more logic driven than emotion driven, but other than that, man, I feel like a woman haha! :) I might actually look up that study to see if it's valid. Though the focus now seems to be on cognitive/neurological testing & profiles rather than physical traits like this.
