I'm a female Aspie who likes to put dresses and skirts and high heels and ear rings. I am kind of girly on the outside. Is that normal for an Aspie? Do I have to change to fit into the Aspie world?

Of course not. All Aspies are different... as long as you are comfortable and happy dressing as you are, you're just fine dressing girly.

Yes, I am diagnosed as AS.

I didn't dress up so much when I was younger...guess it's something that I adapted in university...
coz...
ok... oneday I got verbally abused by girls in uni... they laughed at my appearance
guess since that day I started dressing up
I started to have the desire to be pretty and attractive...
then there was a period of time that I over-dressed a bit...
and then now I sort of find the balance between it.

One of the reason I love dressing up is that it makes me feel pretty and confident.
I've always love wearing dresses since young, but now I learn to match it with shoes and make-up and stuff.
As make-up, most of the day I only put base/sunscreen and blush...

I learned make-up in uni.

same thing, got verbally abused by girls laughing at my make up
so I decided to be better at make-up than all of them...

im just like that, when someone say i can't do something, i prove to them that i can.

there was a period of time that I practise make up everyday, but i dont do it anymore, as I've acquired the skills.
so now I'm back to my almost bare face :D

well guess make-up is a good skills to have, in case there's any formal occasion...
I used to have to ask other ppl to do make-up for me when I need it, but not anymore! thanks to those annoying girls in uni :P

I have AS and I also enjoy wearing girly clothes and shoes
I didn't do this as much when I was younger, but I think I have always had an interest in fashion, just in the past I would think I didn't look good in the clothes.
I never really wore jewelry except in the last 3 years. Now I'm getting to have quite a collection.

I am a very feminine Aspie. I wear make-up and naturally prefer dresses and skirts. In fact, even amongst the general population, I'm really feminine in physical appearance, such as features, etc.

Interesting thread......I am (very) heterosexual and gravitate to wanting to express myself with pretty dresses and the like. And I like men!

But, that being said, my mind (the cognitive/intellectural part, that is) is quite masculine. I am in the sciences and my female counterparts sometimes comment about their "being a woman in the sciences." I respect what they're saying, but I don't get it. At all. I am an Aspie in the sciences. I have no need/want to compete (right word?) with any male in my field; the contrary! I honestly don't even think about my being female, I just am.

I am mechanically inclined. I do not knit or have any traditionally feminine hobbies/interests. Hate chic flicks and romance novels.

But just because I like to dress in a feminine way does not mean, at all, that I judge others - I do not. In fact, I barely notice what others are wearing and I almost don't care. For platonic friends, I usually gravitate to older men.

I enjoy dressing up in a feminine way. I don't do it very often, though. I go out to run a lot so it's a hassle to keep changing my clothes between dresses and running gear.

Me too :D but i do love one female activity - shopping :P

i have one prob that is i care about what other think about me too much :?
I love wearing dresses, actually, quite obsess with it...but im scared of wearing them to uni coz i always feel like everyone looking at me thinking "wth is she dressing up like she's going on a date..."
I know i shouldn't care...but i still do...
and partially becoz my mum keep telling me that i look aweful in dress since childhood, she want me to wear jeans, for "safety"...very traditional asian mother...
another thing for no being able to wear dresses as much as like is convenience problem... dress can be very inconveient in many situation, especially where my everyday work is.

one girl got stabbed by dropping needles on the thighs in my uni/clinic becoz she was wearing a skirt. now she has to be tested for HIV and hepB for one year. since then, i never wear dress/skirt to clinic :(

I didn't wear make-up and learned about coordinating stuff just a few years ago. Thanks to my coworker who was kind enough to tell me about foundation. She also told me not to use a brush but a comb when I've curled my hair so it wouldn't be frizzy.

Mechanically inclined also: I have my own tools (though my girlie tendencies show as I have some tools that match the toolbox color) and know how to change a tire. I've taken my car apart to put in a stereo and speakers, which was some of the most fun I've had on a project.

I go back and forth. Yesterday I wore an oversized shirt and torn, paint stained jeans with slip on sandals. Today I'm wearing a dress and five inch heels. It's simply not consistent enough for me to say I'm definitely girly or I'm definitely not. I wear a little bit of makeup everyday and the same jewelry out of habit, but I have other types/more and will wear that on days I want to dress up.

I don't think you should ever have to change your personal style to try and fit in with others.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this. I always feel a bit self conscious going out in public when I'm dressed nicely, especially as I usually get at least one question about it.

Apparently there are some girly girls with AS.

I'm not one of them, couldn't be if I tried. The closest I come is average girly, and that's usually only when the cat brings a bird into the house and it's still alive, or something like that.

I generally prefer to wear clothing that isn't restrictive and I can do a lot of things in. For example, I like to wear things that I can look good at the mall in, and venture into the bushes to retrieve something in.

It's a real pet peeve of mine the outfits they have women wear in movie fight scenes, because trust me, most of the time those clothes are just not going to stay put like that or hold up.

I go back and forth. Like today, I wore soccer shorts and a t-shirt. But I have days where I fix my hair, do make-up, and wear nice cloths. (Those days aren't the norm, but they happen.) I'm more into what I wear when I'm thin.

I lean towards being masculine.
