Anyone else take this? I've just been prescribed it, and was wondering what effects it had on people.

I do. Personally I've not noticed any bad side effects. It really didn't suit some of my friends though - apparently one of them ended up in tears because she couldn't find a saucepan when she was on it.

I have been on this pill since 2005. I have put on 10 pounds (5kgs) since taking it but I noticed this was mainly water retention as my clothes still fit fine. I have gone up a bra size but that is not too bad, just need to buy some new ones. The worse side effect was the effect on my libido, which has gone down alot. I need to watch what I eat and excercise to maintain my weight. I found it does have a tendency to increase appetite so just need to keep it under control. It has also made my eyes very sensitive as well.

So for me side effects were weight gain, water retention, increase in appetite and loss of libido.

I've been on it 5 years, never had a problem with it.

I've been on it for nearly 2 years, no side effects. I would have preferred to continue with my implant so I didn't have to remember to take something every day, but the implant caused very heavy bleeding, and the second one I had was implanted too deep and was extremely painful to have removed.

I had to come off it because it gave me really bad migraines. Went onto Cerazette which doesn't contain oestrogen and was better for me, especially as you don't have periods on that one. I did find that it seriously effected my sex drive, since I came off them altogether my interest in sex has definitely come back.

I've just taken my first tablet, so we'll see how it works.

How are you getting on??
I am extremely sensitive to every pill...even the progesterone based ones, however this one was the only one that was ok with little or nil side effects.

I've been taking them for a week or two, and they don't seem too bad. I had a major headache yesterday, but don't know if it was linked.

If you are going to have any side effects they should be starting to come after your first period. I hope they work for you, i had tried all pills as well as the implant, and was so harrowingly ill from everything, from severe nausous migraines to bleeding constantly...... microgynon just seemed gentler. Luck to you :)
