I do. I'm following Weight Watchers, and I have an intense fear of Weight Gain. I've decided to try the Ex-Lax experiment, and I now eat three small chocolated pieces of Ex-Lax, for desert. I do this for the seven nights, before my period starts. I actually enjoy the effects that it has, and how it makes my Stools nice and runny. Why should I eat regular chocolate, if I can eat something that has the flavour of chocolate, that will make me lose weight, instead of gaining it?

Using laxatives to lose weight is a form of bulimia

I'm sure that I've freaked out a lot of people, with this topic. I should have never started it.

Any weight gain from PMS goes away after the period, unless you end up actually eating more than usual. Sometimes I gain up to 5 pounds before my period. I feel a little bloated, but that feeling goes away after my period starts, as does the water weight. The worst problem is my breasts become very swollen and tender. My SO wants to touch them the most at this time because they are larger and more reactive to touch, but I do not want them touched. It hurts too much.
As for stool consistency, I know I shouldn't but I like to drink a cup of coffee in the morning. It helps me keep regular. I can't help but go #2 after a cup of coffee.

I am a little embarrased too, heh. But -
be careful with laxatives. I think you use too many at a time.
Take care.

I have to agree, it's dangerous and unhealthy. Good thing you asked though, disgusting as it might be. :)

if you get constipated around your period, it is often because the water in your body is needed for menstruation (and as a result, your poop may suffer). take plenty of water and treat yourself well.

maybe treat yourself to a bar of good quality chocolate (green & blacks is a fave of mine) the higher percentage of cocoa solids the better it is for you. it contains iron, zinc and magnesium which may help with PMS.

or a pint of guiness has iron and pain relief, but make sure you take plenty of water as well.

see, much nicer!

I thought you were going to say you did it b/c of the constipation, which I do get every month (or whenever it comes--I'm not regular yet, nursing baby) and was thinking, hey, that's a decent idea! But not every day for a week straight, and not 3 peices! Whew! But I'm very concerned that it's b/c of weight gain. Like a pp said, that's bulemia, and really not healthy.

Are you obsessed w/ your weight? Have you talked to someone about trying to work through this?

When I was twelve, my dad told me that he wanted me to have a nice figure, like I did back than, when I grew up. At that age, my waist was 25 inches and I was 120 lbs. Now at the age of 32, my waist is 36 inches and my weight is 185 lbs. My dad was still telling me to cut down on my eating, one summer before I've joined Weight Watchers. I was 210 lbs, at the time. He wanted Canada Barbie for a First Born, not a big, jolly Bus with a Cockney Accent. I've joined WW a year later, because I was ready. I was down to 159 lbs, than all hell broke loose, last December. I was upset over something that happened in London, and I was back up to 190 lbs. I did lose 5 lbs after I've moved out, without the Ex-lax. I'm now at 185 lbs, and that was before I've bought that stuff that I've gotten rid of. I didn't want to bother weighing in, because my dad would be around, when my mum would ask how I did, on any given week. Why can't parents just love their offspring, the way that God intends them to be?

I have no idea...The closest thing my dad ever gave me to a compliment about my appearance would be "You'd be so pretty if you weren't fat." :(

I got that from my dad as well. He used to always tell me I needed to watch what I ate b/c I had my grandma's figure. As opposed to my mother's who has no breasts or waist. My grandma has always been very fat, and at the time he was saying these things to me, I weighed less than 120lbs. So I'm curvy, that doesn't mean I'm fat. I started telling him to f- off the last few years if he commented about my weight at all, good or bad. I'm 5'3 and I weigh about 170, so I'm overweight, but I'm not obese. I'm actually surprised and relieved that I don't have bad eating/weight isses b/c of my dad, but I have a fairly healthy food attitude, although I tend to think I'm fatter than I am at any given time. I do tend to eat crap when I'm upset or depressed emotionally. I've had 3 kids now, so my weight has fluctuated quite a bit, and he seems to think it's ok to comment on my weight even now. There is NOTHING worse for a girl's self-esteem, imo than to have parents nagging them about their weight in a negative way. (((HUGS))) I really do understand where you're coming from. But becoming bulemic or anorexic isn't the answer.

Barbies are b*****s, anyways. I'd rather get down to 155 lbs and still be built like a Routemaster. My original goal was to get down to 135 lbs, which is how much my little sister weighs. My dad was once on HER case, for being too skinny. She weighed 112 lbs, at the age of 18. He's a very strange man. Nice, but strange.

hey cockney, it sounds like theres a bit of a parental problem there, that dont sound right, your father being on your case wanting "barbie dolls" seems with men and that manner is hes probably getting naughty. (sorry that sounds sick)

about your own weight, depending on your build and body mass index and frame, will depend on your "normal" weight.

about barbie, i have heard that if she was alive today she would not menstrate. i really think the makers of barbie should have added more meat to her bones. the 9 inch tall, plastic childhood toy is making girls turn anarexic and bulimic in my point of veiw.

about the exlax, like a previous poster said, its not healthy and the exlax using b 4 period for the fatness and bloating before period is not healthy.

i understand you are on a diet but doing a flush out using xlax and other colon clensers isnt the best way to get thin. your thinness and thickness all depends on the glycemic index and how fast or slow your body processes sugars.

best way to do a good diet is do have some LOW glycemic index carbs and veggies, exersize and have portion control and eat 5 small "meals" a day. for the suffering of pooping, put more fibor in diet in the week before period.

sorry i sound like some dietition or nutricionist but that exlax use before period and your dad making you look like barbie isnt healthy.

it is best to be in the middle, between barbie and a routie

I think a middle-ground is a good idea, like maybe Austin Powers. :P I know he's Male, but I've just had to say that.
