When did your voice change?

Weird as this may sound, yes, even with in you females, your voices do change as you go through puberty, but not to the same extent that men go through.

Someone told me about that, it's more like they 'sharper'.

So, females of WP, when did you first notice this voice change?

I know it happened because I don't sound like a kid anymore. I never noticed it happening, though, so I have no idea.

I'm not sure whether or not mine did... on phones I still get asked for my parents whenever telemarketers call. It's an easy out though because then I can just say, very truthfully, "They aren't here." and hang up.

I dont know if mine did during puberty. But around 19, 20 I became more expressive, and spoke more clearly. I guess thats a voice change, but more due to social skills improvement.

women's voices become deeper during puberty just as men's do, though it is generally to a much lesser degree. when women are flirting, they often adopt/fake a higher pitched voice, even though men statistically find a sultry lower pitch to be more attractive (there are exceptions, especially with men who like childish women). as women age, their vocal cords become thinner and reedier, and their voices become higher in pitch and less robust. this is somewhat offset by women who are heavier set.

so i'd say that my voice probably changed during puberty, just like other women.

I honestly have no clue when my voice changed. It was probably too gradual for me to realize a sudden change. I have an adult sounding voice because I'm 18 years old, but my voice has sounded this way for a long time. I'm guessing it changed around puberty when I was 12 or 13.

I noticed a change around the time I was 14. I was in the choir at school, and we did daily warmups that took our voices to the end of our range. I noticed that my voice had trouble going as high as it "should". It was quite distressing and still is. My vocal abilities are still declining, tho obviously no longer from puberty.

I think my voice changed so gradually that nobody, including me, noticed. My voice was probably high when I was a baby, then it might have got lower after I got to about 6. I remember I used to tape myself on a tape cassette, and my voice wasn't much different to what it is now.

I have no clue. Maybe when I was 13. That's when I noticed my voice sounded different on the answering machine. But it still sounds the same most of the time.

I... don't know, actually. I think it was a few years ago...

Around 15, when I went from Soprano to Mezzosoprano. I still can hit those Soprano notes, but I sound better when I sing Mezzosoprano. So, it was mostly the timbre of my voice that changed.

Is it really true that in females, their vocal chords get bigger like us men do? Just wondering.

yes, they do thicken. just not as much as men's do.

Maybe when I was 12-13, from then it has gradually changed and it probably stopped when I was 18-19.

Girls voices gradually change throughout their lives. They get stronger to about 30 while getting gradually lower (not as low as a man's voice). After 30, a woman's ability to hit high notes declines and her voice gradually becomes lower still (still not like a man's voice but older women have lower voices than young women). The change is VERY gradual, so most girls don't notice it for years.

I'm not sure when my voice changed, but when I was younger I used to be able to imitate low, raspy voices like Roz from Monsters Inc, and once I was mistaken for a boy over the phone. I lost the ability to do low, raspy voices as I became a young adult. I can't remember the exact conversation or when it happened, but sometime within the past year or so my mom told me that my voice had gotten higher-pitched.
