I'm on my own and failing at it. I mean, no support system, no mentor, nothing. I think its the reason I haven't been able to do anything with my life. I'm trying to do something with my life now, but I worry all the time that i'm to old to be taken seriously. (i'm 34 and its embarrassing to tell people now)

What kind of mentor? Like a life coach?

Have you been in contact with these guys?

www.aane.org

I bet they could help you out. They're located right outside of Boston.

I need parents. I honestly can't function in the "real world"; if I could, I wouldn't have been homeless for 90% of my adult life. But a group home is inappropriate because I'm too intellectual. Can they find me nw parents?

AANE did nothing; they sent me an email basically blowing me off.
"you aren't autistic enough to need our help, call these people" is basically what I got from them. No, I need to be re adopted, because I just can't take care of "adult" things (like bills, managing my money, etc) and live on my own. It's scary, but at least I recognize now where my shortcomings are.

You seem fixated on getting other people to do things for you.

What do you ever do for other people?
