Tis the season to....jolly lose it!
I have a dx of AS and ADD, live in the uk and have 3 children of primary school age ( 2 of them have AS). Now it is always difficult for me to remember what they need to bring to school ( as i have to do that for them!) but this time of the year it is beyond the joke: the pta want a long list of items for the christmas fayre, costumes for the play, homework still has to happen....And of course my AS children feel that we have to take part in every competition that the pta puts on to raise more money otherwise they feel that they haven't done what they are suppose to "like everybody else! ( oh why can't the PTA just ask me for a donation at the beginning of the year! On top of this there is all the christmas shopping and every well attentioned family member who want a list of what my children want for christmas. .... So much for me to remember! Anyway, tonight was the school christmas fayre and we all came back on sensory overload .... i have just discovered that cleaning my house when i am in that state is a really good idea! It helped me relax, it never occured to me to do that before to relax but it worked! Just thought I would share this tip in case it might help somebody! Anybody else going through the same thing? I'd love to hear other stories, not to feel it is just me!
