Hello. Being a male from the U.S. I may not be the best person to answer this. I wasn't clear on what you were asking. All I can offer is my experience.

I am sterilized. I opted for the procedure before I had any children. There were a few major reasons, my... challenges ... being among them. I just didn't know what was "wrong" with me; I didn't know if it was genetic.

I knew from the experience of being around my six nephews and nieces that I would be just fine without children. It's been 13 years now and I have not regretted my decision. I have occasional pangs of jealousy when I walk through a park and hear kids playing, but they pass quickly. In fact, as soon as one starts screaming or crying I'm over it.

I check in with my wife periodically, every couple of years, to make sure that she also still does not want a child. If it came to it, we could always adopt a child. There are enough children in the world. She is still set against not having children, though. (Thankfully!)

I would urge you to speak with a counselor. Both about the decision, as well as about your feelings when your child melts-down. I'm completely unqualified in both areas. I do wish you luck in your quest for happiness, though.

thanks for replying

but my query was not about having child or not anymore
i dont need guidance of counsellor for the same

i have decided not to have anymore kids
as its taxing on mind
i dont want to end up getting pregnant again

my query was about the process of sterilisation
whether process is painful
risk involved
what care i have to take after process
side effects etc

its strange that u took tat decision
in india ppl wont take such a decision
even though they live in slum
in utter poverty
without source of livelihood
still they will produce 10 children

I suspect the choice was easier for me. I do not have to worry about food everyday. I have time to think about this decision and its consequences, and more importantly, I have the resources available to act upon it once I reached the decision.

Over-population is a challenge we as a world have to address soon enough.

Mine was just cut, seared and capped (no lasers). It was a little painful in terms of recovery (as are all abdominal surgeries), but the peace of mind that goes with knowing that I can't get pregnant makes me happy every day. :)

It's really not that bad, and knowing that you'll never have to go through pregnancy again is more than worth it.

I wish I could get sterilised but thanks to pushy do gooders changing legislation in regards to people with disabilities and sterilising in Australia it's very hard, thanks a effing lot Marion law. I'm highly intelligent and have really thought it through. Even when I was diagnosed with AS I wanted it done. Why bring more people in the world with my condition haven't I cost society enough already why increase the problem? Yet if I wanted to get a cosmetic procedure (nose, boob job) no problem.

Unrelated, but I've noticed a lot of Indian people spelling "that" as "tat". Why is that?
