My ring finger is signifigantly longer than my pointing finger...and i seem to have read that that means I have "masculine hands"...and that women who's index fingers are shorter tend to be more prone to lesbianism, left-handedness, and autism.
While I am not a lesbian, I am left-handed and possibly on the spectrum.

I am too shy to ask the women I know in real life about their digit ratios, so I thought I'd ask you folks.

I got up the nerve to ask a very girly NT-ish girl, and shore 'nuff, her index finger was longer.

My ring finger is longer than my index on both hands and significantly so on my left. I'm neither a lesbian nor left handed, but I am on the spectrum.

Approx the same.

TBH it probably has nothing to do with what mental illness someone has or doesn't have.

Ring finger is longer.

I am right handed and not a lesbian but am on the autistic spectrum.

My ring finger is longer. I'm not lesbian, and I'm definitely right handed. I'm not sure if I'm on the spectrum, but I for sure have a lot of AS traits.

My index finger is significantly longer on my left hand but they are pretty much the same length on my right.

You haven't put a box for that!

I realize my reply was cryptic. I meant that I have the same configuration as the original poster: ring finger significantly longer on both hands.

I'm fascinated by the repercussions of pre-natal testosterone. Currently, it is believed that a high level of pre-natal testosterone plays a part in left-handedness and many masculine traits, like spacial reasoning and memory (perhaps that's where the good-at-soccer came from?), and logical thinking. It's also thought by some that PNT increases the likelihood of the presence of a spectrum disorder, as many of the qualities of AS could be explained by a hyper-masculine brain.

All this to say, my ring finger is quite a bit longer, I am left-handed, I am a lesbian, and I'm on the spectrum. I'm an open-and-shut case of high-PNT.

Oh, I forgot to say that the only visible trait of PNT is the low index-finger-to-ring-finger-ratio. That was kind of important. :-P I read about a study that showed that the average female ratio was .98, the average male ratio was .96, and the average AS ratio (gender unspecified) was something like .95 or .96, with female AS coming in at .96. The error in the measurements is something like .001, so the numbers aren't as close as the seem.

Thank you for your intelligent post on the subject! :)

i have been afraid to ask my very AS-ish, left-handed mom, but in atttempting to observe her fingers, I believe she is the same way..

So...could excess pre-natal testoterone occur when the mom is a "male brained" aspie?...ya think??

or...if not, then what causes it?

I guess I should look this up.
