In elementary school, I was oblivious to reactions so it didn't bother me much. Jr high is when I started being treated differently and teased.

What about you?

In high school. One of my best friends told somebody else I was a loner, and that's when I realized I was not normal even to the people who accepted me...

Also, now I am at uni and I feel VERY different because I don't go out partying all the time like so many others...I know college partying is a stereotype, but there's truth to it, trust me.

I'm so glad i didn't go to college in the US - the partying is similar in Britain but (no offense) Brits will usually leave you alone if you're not like them, whereas Americans will often go telling you how to live and what to think. I guess it also goes to show how many degrees are just Mickey Mouse degrees that can be obtained with so little effort.

In High school I overheard some girls asking my cousin why I didn't join in with them when they were clowning around. She answered, "I guess its because her dad is a minister." The real reason I didn't try to join in was because I had been rejected so many times before.

I noticed that my social life sucked when I was 9 and started reading those books for teens about 7th-grade girls who really had lives, and I decided my life should be like that. I didn't know what was bothering me before. I was a bit depressed before in that sense, because I didn't know what was missing. But I never dwelt on it.

I think it was apparent since Nursery school but I was most aware very shortly after starting primary (infants) school (age 5).

I was pretty oblivious until high school. In high school I latched on with a group of girls I had known from middle and elementary school. However, it took me two years to realize that they didn't want me around. They never told me straight out that they didn't like me, even though they dropped a lot of hints I didn't get. I was a loner for the last two years of high school.

The moment I hit the school system.

So really the first moment I ventured out of the home environment and into the big wide world on my own.

I felt out of my depth from that moment on.

:(

When I started school at the age of 6. It didn't really bother me until adolescence, though.

I had one good friend before puberty. We were friends until I had to move away from her. After that, I found it hard to keep friends. She was a tom boy and fun to hang out with.

In elementary school.
I don't know why so early but it was already hard to have any friends, since the first grade.
I made a few friends and after one or two weeks they'd dump me.

the first time I felt depressed about that I was 20, when a neighbor " girlfriend" ditch me with ticket in hand. She had agreed to take me to a concert.

I honestly don't think my social life "sucks". It's a bit quiet, and therefore atypical to people without an ASD, but I'm totally okay with being a loner.

In fact, I was so busy in high school (when I would've otherwise noticed the difference) with band, Honors and AP classes, and Tae Kwon Do, I didn't have any time to notice how weird it was that I never socialized with my school friends outside of school, or my TKD friends outside of class or tournaments. My college wasn't a big party school, so I didn't think it was weird I spent a lot of non-class time in my dorm room. My school was small, and my classmates and professors were good people; they're still good people, they're just no longer my classmates and professors.

I kind of miss the people constantly around, like there were in high school and college, but I'm usually pretty active online and so don't hate that my RL social life is extremely dull compared to the average woman my age.
