Hi,

I've been diagnosed with Aspergers and am now 30. This happened two years ago. I've been with my current partner for 5 years and he admitted to me that after seeing the list of male traits, he has it. He is a lorry driver and works long hours although previously had an interest in Fine Art.

I'm just wondering, as i'm currently studying Psychology and Neuroscience of Behaviour, if anybody has any theories as to why the male Aspergers brain seems to be less neurologically inclined to empathise whereas the female 'Aspie's' does?

We've had a long standing issue about internet pornography....to cut to the chase.

Thanks

i don't think it does. I'm male and I empathize too much :(
probably more depends on the people some female aspies don't empathize much.

whats wrong with porn?

As a female on the spectrum, I do struggle with empathy a lot. I certainly have the capacity for empathy, but I often find it hard to respond appropriately and recognise how others are feeling. I have heard friends and family joke that I think like a man and perhaps there is some truth to that.

I think the only difference is socializing, honestly. Girls may be more likely to be punished for not empathizing enough, so we may learn it as a survival skill. Said punishment could be losing friends or parents guilting you. Not to say boys don't encounter this either.
