Does anyone else do this? I do this. When I have no makeup my facial expressions look more empty and autistic. Especially my eyes. They have this empty and childlike look to them without makeup. I think makeup kind of hides this.

Nah, I have no desire to look "less autistic". I look very young without makeup, but I think I look more animated and real, as I feel most people do without makeup. That is, to me people's expressions look more empty the more makeup they wear.

I have no idea what to do with makeup. But even if I do manage to get it on it's the most irritating thing. I don't know how people can stand it - it's so itchy and you can't touch your face at all otherwise you'll ruin it. How I'd use it to look "less autistic" I don't know. I don't think makeup suddenly improves social skills.

I don't like the feel of make-up, and I think it's expensive and don't want to spend my money on it. I also think it causes the sun to hit one's face unevenly, making the face look *more* blotchy when it's not worn and increasing the need to wear it.

I only wear make-up when I know I'm going to be "under lights" (professional photography or performing.)

Without make-up, I can look really tired when I am tired. I can't "hide". But, I don't really care. I am who I am, and in general I live in a very "matter-of-fact", transparent way. So if I am tired I am tired, and people know it.

I wear eyeshadow, mascara and lip color the most. Sometimes gel or pencil eyeliner.I don't wear foundation or anything that goes on my cheeks or nose because of how oily and acne prone my face gets.

I wear makeup because I enjoy wearing it. All the different textures and colors are so much fun to experiment with. I don't really have sensory issues to clothes, makeup or fragrances. My perfume and eyeshadows take up a lot of space in my room. :)

I am a female aspie, so I guess my face looks less "autistic". I have no desire to make myself look like something I'm not (unless it's Halloween), and I have sensory issues to makeup (but I tolerate it for Halloween).

Anyway, I thought NT's were always saying "you don't look autistic" when you tell them the first time.

I wear Guy Fawkes' masks just because ... I am in complete disagreement with the Status-Quo.

I'm not sure that I am aware of this phenomenon of autistic eyes being less expressive. I haven't noticed it in any of the men or women in my local support group.

I do like to wear makeup. I'm particularly fond of heavy black mascara and eyeliner. They make my eyes look exceptionally large.

I tried wearing makeup for a while, mostly because my skin is all blotchy and my face is kind of weird and I wanted to cover it up. I don't think it made much effect, it was hard to make it look natural and I wound up looking like I was some kind of painted lady. I've pretty much dropped the makeup now, more trouble than it's worth.

I haven't quite figured out how to makeup away the social awkwardness.

I wear makeup, but I don't think it makes me look any less Aspie. I have no idea how it would do that. I like bright eyeliner because I have brown hair and dark eyes, and it lends some color to my face, the way a turquoise necklace brightens up a dark outfit.

I "look Aspie" because unless I'm genuinely interested in something or concentrating on it very hard, I have a pretty expressionless face. Should I paint on a smile? Then I'd just look like a clown.

I don't understand "looking aspie" in regards to features. I can understand expressions or how someone is dressed or their personal hygiene (if you want to go by stereotypes and also what some people have posted here) but I don't see how makeup would make you look less autistic, unless you start with the assumption that autistic girls don't wear makeup - which many here say they don't.

I can't stand wearing makeup, so I only wear it if I feel like wearing, mostly just for special occasions. And even then I prefer to wear as little as possible. A little blush, some eyeshadow, lip stain, and maybe eyeliner. Not much else. I don't even use foundation. Mostly I don't use it because it feels weird on my skin.

the last year or so I've developed the ability to put on a confident and smiley face when I'm out - a lot of that is thanks to my lovely dog who I go almost everywhere with and who makes me so much less anxious and helps me to feel connected.

I definitely feel loads more confident with my contacts in, with a bit of fake tan and with my eyebrows done, but I don't wear tons of make up or spend ages on my appearance.

While applying makeup in your face make sure that eye is the most important part in our face if we make it perfectly means you will get best result.

Only time I'd ever want to wear make-up is for Halloween, and even then, I find it hard to tolerate.
