On Reddit I have one account where I pretend to be male. Most of the time I just don't mention my gender. I do things like ask how to attract women. Most people assume I'm male when I mention women. Lately people on Reddit have been giving me some advice meant for straight women. That advice is absolutely useless for me. My username is also TheVirginNerd, so I assume that's male sounding. Are they on to me or am I just paranoid?

Maybe they would be able to give you better advice if you gave them more accurate background information.

If you are a woman interested in other women, then I think it is better to just admit to it. Otherwise, you will either get advise that is downright useless or will not work (as you are learning). If you are posting anonymously, then why worry about revealing your gender online ?

I sometimes do provide background information. I still don't get useful advice. Just people mocking my sexuality or being sexist idiots. A lot of the time I'm not really asking for advice. I just want to feel normal. Omitting my gender makes me feel normal about those feelings. I also feel normal when I'm interacting with conservative people and they have no clue about my sexuality.
