Hi. I am seventeen years old and an Aspie girl. I began having light, irregular periods around 3-4 years ago, and haven't stopped. There is very little blood and although my clothes are stained, I've never had to worry about bleeding onto seats if I was wearing underwear with my pants. With my periods come normal stuff like mood swings and abdominal pain, but the periods are spaced anywhere from a few weeks to three months apart.

I am often stressed out, but this isn't episodic, my periods seem to have no consistency at all. I take three kinds of meds, but the doctor never said anything about periods with them.

I have never done anything sexual, so I'm not pregnant currently or on the pill.

I don't think that it is always abnormal to skip periods. Many women have irregular periods. However, I'd still talk to your doctor about it. Everyone is different. You could have an underlying medical issue.

I've never missed a period myself unless I was pregnant.

I'm not sure if that's normal or not, but it doesn't seem normal to me. I hope you go to see a doctor soon.

First, don't stress. Many women have irregular periods for the first couple of years or so after they first get them. Second, I'd echo the other posters and recommend visiting a doctor to make sure there are no underlying conditions.

Also, I cannot stress how important it is to find a doctor who is knowledgeable about gynaecological conditions and makes you feel comfortable discussing them. I say that because it's unbelievable how many doctors I have come across who are not knowledgeable and make any conversation about 'female problems' super awkward. When you find that doctor, hang on to them.

My periods have never been that regular either. I have irregular moderate-heavy periods that tend to come early when I experience college stress. I think it's hereditary in my case. My mom had irregular periods too.

Could be PCOS, which affects 10 percent of women.
Then again, could be any one (or a combination) of numerous other reasons. You can only really know by consulting a doctor.
