Hi I have just found out that Temple Grandin is coming to the UK to do a talk about autism.

I am just wondering if anyone has heard one of her talks and if they found it particularly beneficial.

WOW Temple Grandin the Rock Star of autism. Haha

Sorry I am very pleased.

I never get excited about seeing anyone in all honesty, but this has me intrigued and tickled

I've seen parts of her lectures on YouTube.

I've read a couple of her autobiographies.

I find that she really gets her point across quite well.

I also watched some of her lectures and the movie of her life which was so good.

I really hope I can manage to go and listen to her talk.

You can keep your musicians and your actors. ( Not saying they are not good worthwhile people )

I much prefer to see someone who has accomplished things that help make the world a better place.

A personal opinion that I know many may disagree with.

I've seen her talks and watched the movie. They're pretty interesting and informative. Unfortunately a lot of the information just doesn't apply to me. One example is thinking styles. I have no idea if I'm considered a visual, pattern or verbal thinker. Maybe I'm too NT to neatly fit into one of those categories.

Nothing to do with that. NTs split into visual and verbal thinkers as well.

Not the ones I talk to.

I don't think the same way either, but i have a son who is pretty much non verbal and does not really communicate and I have a son with Aspergers who can speak but is not very good at expressing things into words, so I like to try get an idea of different ways of thinking

I've listened to a bunch of her talks on youtube, and I fell she repeated enough stuff that I have already heard most of what she would say live. Of course, I could be entirely wrong! But I felt watching on youtube was informative enough. I also enjoyed the movie about her and I listened to a couple of her audiobooks, they were at the library.

I've been to one of her talks. She's fun to listen to, and what she has to say is really interesting, so if you can go see her in person I'd definitely recommend it.

I've watched all the youtube lectures by her I could find. She's the reason I decided to become an accountant, as she recommended it as a job for verbal fact thinkers. I expect if she comes to the UK she'll do the talk in London which is too inconvenient for me to get to. Hopefully they will record it and upload it on youtube so everyone can watch it there too.

She is doing a talk on the 3rd of June in Reading.

It's too difficult for me to get to, so I am saving myself for the 3 day conference in Edinburgh in September ( Not Temple Grandin )

Although there will be experts from all over Edinburgh

She came to Syracuse, NY a few months ago. I felt like a kid in a candy store.... so excited to her. I understand what you meant about the rock star of Autism. I felt the same. She gave people a chance to ask questions but I was so scared and "star struck" to open my mouth and ask a question. I hope you go and have a great time! I am glad I went despite the 2 hour drive there and back. :-p
