Hi, do aspies have more problems with menstruation than NTs, or is there no correlation?

I become very emotionally delicate and the most random things can trigger floods of tears or even meltdowns prior to and during menstruation. Some days of my period I cannot function at all. Is this an aspie thing or an individual thing?

Thanks <3

I'm not sure if it's an aspie thing or not but I am the same way.

I'm the same way. I just stay in bed crying all day long. At school it's especially bad because I can't keep my head up and pay attention, and it just hurts so badly...

In my case... It doesn't seem to be the case.

I have no troubles whenever that monthly came-- Either physically or emotionally.
Only 'issues' I have are the usual discomfort and hormones ended up affecting my judgment which is why I wouldn't trust myself during those times... And not to mention occasional cravings that isn't helping at all.

I don't have extreme sudden moods or have cramps or ended up unable to function during any of that. I don't even need meds to make it any easier. Or make things any easy at all, I could even still walk for miles with a heavy flow. :| And NTs around me are more likely to complain, and more likely need any kind of accommodation while I'm not even trying to tough anything out.

I'm the same, my time of the month has always been intense and kinda debilitating. It's not so much the cramps that bother me but the mood swings. When I was at school I'd sometimes miss the days they were affecting me and now I usually cancel plans to stay home when they do, or at the most I can handle doing something little. Usually it's only 2 - 3 days I get the hormones, but they're seriously horrible, I just feel intensely angry, sad and anxious and my thoughts go all irrational. I've spoken to doctors about it and been diagnosed with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder).

I know someone else on the spectrum who has terrible times of the month like me and I suspect being on the spectrum could make us more sensitive to our hormones. If they're really troubling you definitely talk to a doctor, they can sometimes prescribe stuff that helps symptoms. :)
