Yes, I am a male, but I thought I would weigh in on this.
---
We men have a month where we do not shave our faces for charity, that is Movember (in you guessed it, November). But there has been a female equivalent, which, for some reason or other, has not gained the traction that the male version has.

It's called "Armpits 4 August", and for that month, women let their armpit hair grow out.

And I ask now, why has this not gained as much traction as Movember has? Share your thoughts here.

It's socially acceptable for a man to have a beard, but not for women to have pit hair. Not in America, anyway.

Women should stop shaving their armpits more often.

I saw a woman with really long, black leg hair wearing shorts in public today .
I wanted to shout, "You go, girl!" at her, but I didn't.

I'm not a particular lover of women with hairy legs. But it's their right not to shave their legs.

I wouldn't shave MY legs.

I haven't been shaving my arm pits for a while, though I've kind of been considering it just cause it's so hot and more humid than usual this summer and it might keep me cooler. Also though, I think guys growing facial hair is still see as more normal than females having unshaved arm-pits so that's probably why this hasn't gained as much traction.

You'd be surprised how many woman didn't shave their underarm hair in the 1970s.

Men are driven by primal, bestial impulses. Just as many women prefer a man with body hair, there are many guys in Western civilization who are into ladies with unshaven pits. Of course, you won't hear from us too often because such a natural preference is seen as aberrant and worthy of derision in a world that has long since abandoned the terrestrial female deities in favor of male sky gods. I myself have been "creep-shamed" over this issue by hypocritical, anti-intellectual women in the past. Militant feminists, having claimed hairy armpits as their own, only compound the situation by pushing away young men.

Maybe it's because I'm European and most of us know not to even attempt to tell a woman what to do with her body, since it's not our business at all, why do hairy female armpits bother you?

Women have hairy pits, they just do.

Why shame them, I really don't get it?

I have no real objection. It's her choice. Definitely not a deal-breaker for me.

I am actually astonished when I see that, probably, less than 1% of women don't shave their underarms these days. In the 1970s, probably 10-20 percent didn't shave.

There is money to be made in shaving.

@Quillalba - love your little identity picture.

The 21st century is characterised by a form of quasi eugenic phobia about body hair, natural body smells and giving people with asperger's jobs.

I don't get it either, I mean yes it does grow there naturally....only reason I ever really shaved was social pressure, like being told that's just what girls do when they reach puberty. But once I evaluated that as my only reason I decided it wasn't worth the itch and now at most I might shave legs and arm-pits from time to time if it's really hot out but otherwise I just leave it.

IDK I feel the only reason someone should shave body hair is if they want to and it's how they are comfortable.

If they want to or if it's just more comfortable.
