Hey everyone!
I recently met up with a lovely friend this week and realised how much my social anxiety is holding me back. I have quiet a bit of past trauma which definitely causes fear and trust issues but seeing this friend was really nice and heart warming, it made me feel soo much better.
So I was wondering if any lovely women on WP have any advice on handling social anxiety because it's really holding me back career-
wise and causing weight gain (which is also making me more insecure)

Thank you

I found CBT useful in the past, I think low key fun with one other person has helped me more so, something like going for a coffee and dessert or to see a comedy/feel good movie with a friend, joining a structured class, these sort of things gave me concrete memories to counteract the fear.
Depending on your location there are social anxiety meetups or support groups which could provide a similar social outing as everyone can relate through the shared experience.

Sometimes, one just has to take the “Nestea plunge” to offset social anxiety.

I’ve done that many times.

I hope you befriend this person.

An honest answer to the question would be : I do not deal with social anxiety. At all. It's part of my life and always will be. Hiding in the bathroom sounds familiar.
