I just started experiencing it today and it feels terrible crying when I'm not sad. I get angry at everyone for no reason. I'm jealous that my sister doesn't experience it and I was hoping I could just do something to get rid of it, even if it means damaging my body.

Talk to your gynecologist. I think maybe birth control pills help, but I'm not sure. My PMS was never bad enough for me to seek any help.

There may be something else going on, the way painful periods can mean endometriosis. Your Dr. may find something that can be treated that will help you.

Zoloft is approved for use with PMS. I take it. You should really talk to your dr. Also, certain birth control pils minimize PMS.

I don't know, but might you try Vitamin D supplements & increasing your Ca+ intake? About Vit D; acts as a neurotransmitter to help your mood and is notably depleted in females during menstration. I do take Vit D (& not just during that time, but always) since I live in AK with extreme winter darkness & this does help with sleep cycles.

Try Vit D 1000 IU micro-tabs, not just the multi-vitamin variety. I do hope you feel better. Does extra sleep help? If you don't have physical pain, which is a different problem, then OTC stuff should help. Please don't damage yourself though!

Post Script (yes, just kidding....): Have you thought about killing your bf &/or husband/SO? Just a suggestion. Supposedly cathartic.

For some reason, birth control pills made my PMS incredibly worse..I could not stop crying..I cramped and cramped and bled and bled..my normally incredibly clockwork cycle became erratic and weird and did not recover till I had been off the (patch) for many months..I think over a year.....um...

I might not be anything to base anything on.. but they make teas that help deal with women's monthly cycles. Yogi teas makes a few and traditional medicinals makes a few also...available at health food stores...most of them contain raspberry leaf and/or dong quai...they help out more than one might expect them to. I am inclined to use both at the same time...a nice, natural, inexpensive way to get things in order. I tend to feel better if I am consuming more protein around this time. I just started the rag and during the days leading up to it, I have been consuming these really decadent, but relatively low fat egg white omelettes with lots of veggies. I am mostly a vegetarian...but I might sneak in more animal prducts than usual because my body seems to crave them...

I would not be so drastic about pms...it is just part of being female...sometimes those feelings can be cathartic..

...just my two cents...

Well, since no one in real life cares about me, I guess I can become bulimic and then I can stop having my period altogether.

I take Yaz, just for contraception actually not PMS issues, but it's also used to treat PMDD (like extreme PMS). I really like this one. I used to be on a tri-phasic pill at a higher dose (Ortho-Tricyclin) and that gave me PMS-symptoms I never even had before I was on the pill.

Yaz actually stopped my period completely. I don't know why. They just got shorter and lighter every month and went away.

No ovulation + no fake pill period = no PMS for me.

I find that just generally living a very healthy lifestyle helps with PMT and period pain.

If I've been drinking a lot, eating lots of s**t food, not exercising, I find I get severe PMT and awful pains and nausea.

If I drink little or not at all, eat healthily inc loads of fruit and vegetables and no chocolate and go running regularly, I find its all much more manageable.

Boring, but the contraceptive pills I've tried haven't sat well with me and I don't have it in me to try again yet.

Oh, we do care about you. Please don't think otherwise (& don't become bulimic)! I've never had PMS symptoms, fortunately, but understood the hormonal flux can effect mood. I suppose if it's quite intolerable do you have a doctor to consult? I should think PMS, to an extent, is normal, but if you feel just miserable then that's too much suffering & you surely don't need/deserve that!

I take Trinessa and that works ok. Many gyns now presccribe a CONTINUOUS dose of bc so there is no period - maybe you could ask?

In any case....hope this resolves (& I don't mean just after your period ends for the month).

eating healthy, going off alcohol, exercise, birth control pills...none of that worked for me.
if i take naproxen 3 days before my cycle for 3 days i will barely have any pain. if i don't take them soon enough and get my period there will be pain.
the chemist once recommended codeine for me too.

oh you mean pms mood swings. well i had depression/suicidal thoughts from having pmdd. they do have anti-depressants for that. if it's that severe see a doctor.

exercise. a few times a week. the pms will lift considerably.

and labpet's postscript may well also help. :) nothing like a bit of solitude.

It's too late. 8O I'll have to wait until next month. And I see no reason to exercise since I have no life and I am unworthy of going outside.

I've tried it, but it didn't work.
