Do any of you ever get really achy nipples, for no reason? Just wondered. Input would be appreciated.

yeah, I had to remove my nipple bar a couple of months ago because the nips ached too much. I didn't know it was because I am post menopause, though.

What's a nipple bar?

And oh, it isn't just because of being post-menopausal. It's just that I got frustrated with my internet search, because the replies I found always assumed that the women was of childbearing years/capability. Or was breast feeding. This comes on for no reason I can see, and is extremely uncomfortable, as even having my clothing brush against them, or temperature changes, is agonizing.

what ever that metal thingie is called that goes into the pierced nip with the little end you screw on . . .I don't know what it is called.
(I didn't wear hoops, just that little retainer bar when I didn't have my big nipple shields on.)

Long past the post topic

Yes, Hartzofspace, I do get sore nipples, the same sensation like after I finished a breastfeeding session. I have three kids. Other than this I feel nothing. It must be a hormone fluctuating thing.

Menopause is strange situation. At least I never got those hot flashes. In fact, I am always cold, and need lots of coverage and heavy blankets.

Maybe I am conservative, but I do not like the thought of nipple piercings. Ouch!

I agree about nipple piercings. I could NEVER! Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I breastfed my daughter, 25 years ago, but still remember that pain. This feels something like it, and friction makes it worse. It seems to last about three days, and then disappears. Today it seems not to be as bad, but still achy. Must be a hormonal thing. I don't get hot flashes, though. Thank God.

I did not mean to offend. I am not into breastfeeding, it sounds quite painful, as well.

hey, Hartz...

Yeah, I still do. I'm fairly new to the post-menopausal thing, and maybe there's still a few errant hormones kicking around. Mine get sore like they did before my periods, only now it's a bit worse as clothing can irritate them too. Also, the soreness last for a while, like a week or so, and then it eases up. Before, when my period started, the pain eased up right away. Oh, and forget bras.

Merle, you didn't offend me! Different strokes, and all that... :)

I'm beginning to suspect that it is a left-over hormonal thing, too. The only bra I can tolerate when this happens, is a sports bra, because it constricts and doesn't allow too much friction. And now that you mention it, it does seem cyclical. Ah, the joys of being female!

do you get uterine cramps cyclically? I do. . .every month to three I can tell just by feeling my body that if I were still menstrual, I would be having my period. But I am not, so I don't. but my uterus (or something down up in side there in that area) twitches just a little like old times.

I certainly do get cramps, which is odd, since I had a hysterectomy! According to Chinese medicine, we still retain a spiritual version of an organ, even after its removal.

I get the cramps, too...my doc suspected pelvic inflammatory disease, and with a little reading, I discovered that, like fibroids, is much more common though usually more manageable in more women than previously thought.

Maybe it's errant tissue left over and still responding to the cyclical hormones, or hormone, or whatever's still happening. I know I get a cramp in the upper right quadrant, or used to, on a regular basis along with the "usual" cramping, and it still happens occasionally, though as my cycles wear down, it's not monthly, more like every couple of months, but always on a kind of schedule.
