I've noticed that the last 3 or 4 times i've got my period, iv'e been getting some unusual symptoms at the same time.

About a week before and during my period I get these horrible big, grey bags underneath my eyes and it looks like I am continuously really tired. Also, my hair falls out when I brush it a lot more than usual during that time of the month.
Oh...and the most annoying one...the pain!!...not that it is unusual but OMG it is sooo bad!! I've tried nearly everything for the pain that I can think of including painkillers, heat pads/hot water bottles, ice-packs, chamomile tea, light exercise, lying down etc. The only way I've found that reduces the pain is hitting my stomach...which obviously I should not be doing that but it's the only way it works and the pain is making me mad!

I'm going to book myself an appointment to see the doctor next weeks as I know that something is not normal here.
Any suggestions about these weird symptoms [bags under eyes and hair falling out] and what they could be? Anyone else get these? [or this really cramping pain!?]

The hair/eyes thing sounds like stress. I don't see how you're connecting it to your period. Exercise is the best thing for cramps, but if they are that painful, then definately tell your doc about it.

BIG HUGS!! !! !
My period/PMS always changes (lucky I'm nt). But for pain I have used Paradex AND Nurofen when it has been that bad. Ponstan is apparently goood. My doc prescribed Synflex a while back which is GREAT stuff. I had endometrosis lasered out about 8 or 9 years ago but have to wonder if it back at times.
Good plan seeing you doctor, hope he/she can find some relief for you. I too agree in saying being a female sucks at times!! !!

Sometimes I can feel the pain of periods so distinctly that I'm sure I can actually feel the lining of the womb ripping away from the sides. Not nice. I feel your pain!

Sounds like it could be endometriosis... definitely see your doctor!

Are you on any form of birth control? Sometimes it helps to regulate your periods,. but please, go see a gynocologist if you havent yet. Are you sleeping enough too? That can make a difference.

If applying heat to your abdomen doesn't help, it may well be endometriosis -- I've had it for over 20 years. Try an ice-pack instead & see if that helps. Endometrial pain is caused by inflamation, not cramping, so heat just makes it worse. You can also try taking Aleve for the pain - it's an anti-inflamatory. And see your doctor, of course. And no more punching yourself!

The pill is awesome! I take it and my periods are not nearly as painful. They still hurt, but it is very managable. I used to be on these prescription pain killers (They areblue pills... forget what they are called.)

I am very active when it comes to exercise, and love to swim, and haveing a period is a nusinces, especially seeing as I don't want children. My doctor says that it is safe to use the pill so skip periods, but only 3 at a time. after 3 packs of pills, have a period, I love this and it gives me sooo much freedom (and zero pain) but ask your doctor before trying this first, it's ok for some women to do this and some not.

go to an o.b., if you have severe cramping it could be some mass or cyst in your uterus or something, don't mean to alarm you but i know someone who had those symptoms ..she got better after treatment

Ok, since my mother has a history of cysts, this kind of DID ALARM ME. 8O
I don't know if cysts are a genetic thing or not...hopefully not.

No i'm not taking any form of birth control. I thought about it, but my GP recently retired so haven't got around to seeing a doctor about any of this since I started this thread (which was a few months ago i think).
I do get enough sleep, although my sleep patterns are odd. I stay awake until 3-4am and sleep in usually until 12noon-1pm.

I suggest trying birth control pills - even the "magic blue pills" (synflex) and all the painkillers I could get my hands on couldn't take away the pain, but it's much better on the pill - still sore but manageable. I'm not sure about the other symptoms, but I wouldn't put it past femaleness to inflict such things on someone.
