It's been driving me up a wall, the crying, the anger for no reason at past events, the food cravings, being surrounded by non-pmsing women who don't understand. I just want to become bulimic to lose 30 lbs so I can stop having my period, therefore stop PMSing. My mom doesn't understand and is considering anger management classes for me, when it's only PMS. At this time, I am desperate for abuse to bring me out of it, I am desperate to hurt myself, I am desperate for bad advice, since it feels more satisfying.

And to let you know, I don't excirsize! Not since I've had no life or friends nor known the meaning of friendship. I've been doing yoga, but the effects don't last long.

I am crying a river as I type this, I want a hysterectomy, but have to wait until I'm 30, which is no way I will do.

A doctor can prescribe you a pill that really helps. Many of my classmates are on it.

My mom said she would put me on a pill, but never has.

I need a solution that does not involve pills, doctors or anything that needs a prescription.

I also had problems with PMS. Every month I hate being a woman, think about a hysterectomy, . . . and no one can understand it. My mom only says I'm crazy for my way of thinking. I frequently get in trouble because of PMS, just for feeling anger for nothing.

I can't take analgesics because of my allergies. And excercising doesn't help me.

My only option is to avoid everything, go to bed and rest.

Are you on birth control? Some pills can lessen the effects of PMSing.
The one I am on gives me a period once every 3 months... I LOVE it. They are fairly new, but your doctor should know about it. It's called 'seasonal'

I forgot to mention, I have no money for birth control, and I can't take those until I've started my period!

I haven't started yet, and am afraid I'm skipping this month, so birth control is basically out of the question.

Not sure if that one is available in Australia yet, but I like the sound of that pill. The money saved on not buying tampons and pads is a good thing. Damn TGA seem not to care about stuff that can help women. Im on Yasmin which has helped with the acne and bloating. If I do have a period which I try to have every two months I get bitchy to everyone and I really crave food like KFC which is a bad thing as Im on a low carb high protein diet atm. Lost about 10 pounds already.

Even if you don't have money, shouldn't your health insurance cover birth control? I use seasonique, which is kind of like seasonal, but I skip the week with the period, because there's no medical reason for one other than to feel unbearable pain. Ask a gynecologist about it. Your mom needs to understand that periods just make everything with Autism worse, and they're really hard to deal with.

I too use birth control to deal with the worst of my symptoms of menstrual pain, it should be covered by a prescription by a doctor and your health insurance if your periods are causing that much intense pain.

Why wait so long? You should literally be allowed to in your early twenties. Heck, I'm 19 and I'm allowed to.

BTW, you wouldn't like my opinion on PMS besides that I believe it's fake.

As do I. Not "fake" but majorly socially constructed. I believe that is the general medical consensus in some countries, like France? I am inclined to agree, from my perspective, even though menstrual pain is potentially overwhelming and troublesome, labeling it as a disease or mental state sounds like a way of making the female body's natural functions seem unnatural, or pinning typical side effects of the pain as alien or alarming when they really shouldn't be.

Yeah... well, it probably is majorly socially constructed, as I understand some women experience horrible pain from cramps, but I haven't had any intense cramps in my life and I consider bleeding to be just plain annoying. It's the emotional part that I truly think is a myth. You say that the label of "disease" makes it seem unnatural. This is where I disagree with you, because I wholeheartedly believe that monthly bleeding already seems unnatural, ...and I won't go into detail now. My opinion here is that women who get away with being rude and acting out try to make it sound like: "PMS is natural, so it's OK if we treat you like crap. You just don't understand!!"

It's not a disease, and it's not a syndrome. My best term for it is "excuse." Sigh... :?

Still, there are pills and other products that supposedly reduce cramps and emotional outbursts. They're not all that expensive, too. There are also methods you can try for anger management and diets you can try regarding your food cravings. Please don't become bulimic -- nor do anything to purposely lose weight.

In my experience it's not fake, it's simply explained wrong.

I experience lows and irritability when I reach a certain point in my cycle. As I understand it, it is related to hormone secretion throughout the cycle. During ovulation, there is a natural high, and the symptoms of PMS, in my case anyway, are a result of coming down off that high. What it tells me is that the real me is kind of moody and irate. Frustrating, but the knowledge helps me cope. The fact is, the only cure I know is to be isolated until my body gives me another fix.

This was how I understood it, but I can't remember where I heard it. It makes sense, though. I feel a natural boost as I pass into certain stages and feel less resilient every day as ovulation blows over. Now, as for those who suggest they go nuts during PMS, I dunno. If it really is a cessation of hormones rather than an increase, then I couldn't see more than irritability being the result. But I do get irritable, heck yeah. I'm a fairly pessimistic person, so I set myself up for it, I expect.

Anyway, I leave open the possibility of someone having a worse reaction because honestly I believe just about everything is possible in small or large amounts. There always seems to be someone who decides that what you're saying is crap because they never heard of such a thing, or it hasn't been their experience. I once had a room full of women telling me that they had never heard the term "tabby" in their lives. This does not make tabby cats stop existing. Things can exist whether you've seen them, or experienced them, whether you find them unthinkable or criminal or just really ugly. So I leave the possibility open.

To those people that think pms is fake try meeting a person that has it severe or gets diagnosed with PMDD. Last year I got so depressed every cycle since I started birth control. Then the depression didn't seem as bad when I went off the pill, but I still get unusually angry when I get pms. Last month was pretty bad too. I almost took my life. I thought I was Bipolar but having those emotions around the same time every month kind of made me think.

Fickle Pickle you should try going on anti-depressants for your pms if it is severe. I don't know why you don't want to go to a doctor. Evening Primrose Oil pills might help. I take them during my cycle. About 3 at once.
