She's certainly an aspie. No question about that and she does know about WrongPlanet.

How? Has she said anything about it?

it came up in a conversation we had.

Alex,

How cool that Heather either reads or knows of WP.

My wife and I have watched this show with great interest. For me, personally, it was due to Heathers appearance on the show that caused me to investigate what Aspergers was. After watching her handle ANTM and reflecting on my own sons actions, (age 24) I could see some similarities between my son and Heather. So when I goggled it, I couldn't stop reading and reading about it. It fit!! ! We (our family) are still working with acknowledgment and understanding but we're on our way to better awareness.

So....for me.... Heather is a kind of hero..... :D :D :D

But it isn't about her winning or losing on a TV show. Nor is it about her performance or pictures (although she is gorgeous and takes killer shots). She's already a champion in life. It's more like......she's also, indirectly helping many people with knowledge and awareness of AS.

Many Thanks Heather!! !

One other item I wanted to comment on - I'm really proud of Heathers Mom also, for how she raised Heather. I especially liked the touching scene early on when Heather had to call her Mom. I guess the girls were being hard on her and teasing her a bit. Heather needed reassurance and support. I was REALLY amazed at how well Heathers Mom provided exactly that. I learned something about how to be a better parent. sooooooo cheers to Heathers Mom also.

Totally asocial and hot. A dream lady for me.

It seems like she has really fallen for that male model, though. I don't know the name--the black guy with the tatoos and the muscles.

Mike Tyson?

Tyson Beckford.

Heather is a big time celebrity now, with gala luncheons to attend, talent agents, award ceremonies, photo shoots, and whatever it is that celebrities do. Right now, she may be riding a yacht in the Bahamas. I'm sure that she doesn't have the time to read internet message boards.

Celebrities have free time and net connections.

Especially minor celebrities. :) I mean, most British TV actors have more time than most movie actors. Unless they're on stage....

As an Aspie model, I really look up to her. I've always wanted to go on ANTM (I just need to lose 10-15 pounds first). To see someone like me on there is really inspiring and gives me even more hope for the future.

I just had to post this pic again, PheeNixy! Have you other pics?

I'm sorry but I have no time to read the entire thread:Heather won, right?
It says so in the wikipedia.

Well, about what I said earlier...
What happened was-I went to the Wikipedia site and checked it out.
I saw Heather won and Ambrial came second.
But when I visited the page the second time it didn't say anything.
So now I'm not sure if I really saw it or not.

It's been bugging me all day.
Maybe I just imagined it.
But I'm sure I saw it!!

Obviously you're being facetious and missed the point of my post. Whether she looks on this board or not wasn't what I was focused on.

Although I don't know Heather, I'm sure she is glad she entered the contest. It probably opens some modeling doors for her. And she appears to be standing on her own two feet, strong and resilient. That girl is a natural at modeling.

Heather isn't defined by ANTM but her being on that show has become a vehicle to open discussion for many regarding Aspergers. Aspergers doesn't define Heather......at all.

Good on ya girl!! !

Only just picked up on this whole thing. I would have to say to any doubters of her condition, you have got to be kidding me! If I had met her at some point in time, we would be sat at either end of the room, looking at the floor or something. No talking, me with my arms folded or writing a song, her in her notebook. Perfect. :D

Sometimes I doubt if she's really Aspie.

Her NT level seems to rise each week. Sadly, that doesn't happen with real Aspies even if they try.

Maybe she just made up the condition (or got some BS "diagnosis") to get on the show.

Aspies are often great actors. This is an adaptive skill.

The following is a quote from Tony Attwood's book The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome:

Tony Attwood wrote:
When adults with Asperger's syndome have used imitation and acting to achieve superficial social competence, they can have considerable difficulty convincing people that they have a real problem with social understanding and empathy; they have become too plausible in their role to be believed.

This is something that I've grappled with myself.

Yeah, me too! I was so determined to "get over my shyness" (not knowing about AS) that I created such a convincing public persona that no one believes me when I say that I wasn't born with the social instruction manual NT's were.

And back OT, go Heather go! She rocks!
