until age 27 did not feel jealousy; simply didn't know what felt like.

Grief. As in grieving. My half-brother died this year, and while I was sad, I never really went deeply into grieving. I was sad for awhile, and TM would ask me why I was so quiet, and I'd only be able to label it as sadness.

I can relate to that, my mother died not so long ago and I did not really grieve, well not like others do. But did have moments when withdrew and felt sad / sorry for myself! But also find in any bad situation, do not react like others, quite claim really - never over react - could say under react!

I can remember when younger me and my twin brother would laugh if felt awkward emotionally, still find it hard in emotional situations its like have to act how I should, not how I really feel.

Huh?

Just looked at this - and it lists "acceptance" as an emotion?

I had thought I did experience them all - but not this one!

Also "compassion" & "ecstasy" seem to be alien to me. Not sure about "hysteria" either.

But often, as others have said, I'll feel them inappropriately.

I've always thought that I experience the same emotions as everyone else. I think the difference between me and most of the people I know is when I feel them.

For example, most people I know experience happiness and joy when in a pub with lots of people. I experience anxiety, confusion and even sometimes anger.
Most people experience boredom at playing a computer game/watching a TV series for longer than an hour. I feel a contentedness (in the case of something like freecell) or a desire for more (in the case of certain tv shows).
Most people experience greed and envy when they see someone with an expensive handbag, I experience a sort of pity that they need to spend so much money just to carry stuff in or anger that they didn't give the money to someone who actually needs it.

But then if I'm not experiencing something, would I know about it?

From the Wikipedia article:

Ecstasy (never felt)
Empathy (very weak)
Forgiveness (very weak)
Grief (never felt)
Hysteria (never felt)
Limerence (never felt)
Love (never felt)
Lust (never felt, though I do feel desire for some things, just not "love")
Pride (very weak)

I was looking at one of the websites detailed in the 'executive dysfunction' post and I happened upon the author's comments on emotion and what they themselves do not experience. For myself, it is romantic love and sadness.

How about everyone else?

All are there - can be recalled and expressed.

Yeah - acceptance is an emotion. It's somewhat like humbleness combined with gratitude.

Grief depends alot on the situation for me...and then sometimes I feel nothing regardless at the time and then it hits me months after.

I don't understand jealousy and envy. I don't have a competitive nature I guess, never have...I will surrender before I will compete with someone for something.

Wow Angelus-Mortis I'd love to feel almost constant happiness.
First of all I'll list the emotions/moods I feel a lot:
low grey mood
anxiety
restlessness
silliness, mild elation
frustration
loneliness
anger, aggression
confusion
grief
occasional: social mood
sunny, chatty (rarely!)
compassion
braveery
envy
lust
rarely: love it tends to mutate into a high anxiety state.
pride
empathy
sympathy only for the marginalised.

Yeah, I get that quite a lot. I sometimes feel 'happy' for no reason also. I just dont seem to 'get' emotions in general 8O

I think I feel most emotions to one degree or another .
Except for unconditional love and grief . HandyAndy Spock says " I fail to see the logic of grieving when people die since it accomplishes nothing . It is better to dwell on the circumstances of (their) life and occasionally the circumstances surrounding (their) death ." Perhaps I just internalize it very well . Closest I came was when my favorite dog died . Sad but true . Unconditional love is something I would like to experience but I fear that road is blocked to me .
Happiness , yes at times rising to elation
Anger , yes . Its always just under the surface and it's because IMHO human society is both very cruel and largely without a conscience so I guess I have empathy for those that are less fortunate not of their own doing .
Sadness swims with and usually follows Anger lurking and waiting for a chance to manifest themselves . I find these 2 the most difficult to keep in check (not that they get out often or for very long) .
Hateness , I got plenty of that for people with so much money they don't know what to do with it . And for those who seek to impose their insanity inducing religion on me (especially for them) .
Anxiety , yes . Build one thing that hurts someone (even if its the operator's fault) and you'll know anxiety too

"Make a joke and I will cry , and you will laugh , and I will sigh.
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal !"
I used to think those words described me but I was incorrect , rationalizing my inability to look far and see clear .

I find it interesting that some posters feel few emotions . I am wondering if this is the result of their neural hardwiring or that they simply internalize and block emotions (consciously or otherwise) . Most likely it is a combination of the 2 .
