The only advise I can give is that if you do join, stay away from the egg omlettes. A friend of mine litterally used the stuff to chop bark off of a tree before.

Though my military career was brief I did enjoy the food a great deal. Love those MREs specially the Vegetarian one. Some sort of pasta mmmmm. Never had the egg omelette's though.

I did fine in the Army until they tried to put me up for my first stripe, it went downhill from there(all the classroom stuff). I went on a sort of sport competition thing for biatholon(sp?) in France, everything got more friendly, where as before i was able to keep to myself more. Soon after we returned at first opportunity i left as it got too much, people expected me to keep up the "mask" i was able to construct. The fake friendships became very tiring for me to maintain.

There were other problems also, such as my inability to fix dangerous things to pain or worse for example. I once crashed a landrover into a trailer truck because i got mezmerised by the water on the windshield.

Trust me, you're not missing out on anything when it comes to the egg omlette. Hehe. I tell ya, that tree never knew what was coming. :P

It probably depends on the Aspie.

Me, I'm a pacifist, I have no spatial skills to speak of, and any kind of confrontation makes me fall apart. I don't think the army would want me :P

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I have been in over six years and love it, plan to stay for twenty. My enhanced spatial perception skills, ability to rapidly organize and prioritize tasks, sharp situational awareness, and ability to intensely focus, have all helped me become a shitt hot fighter pilot. Not to mention the training has made me practically impervious to stress. I love my job, love my life, and have better and more trusted friends than ever before. Although they do laugh at my social retardation and amusing eccentricities :)

And yes, I find the regulation, regimentation, and procedural routines of the military to be familiar and comforting.

Your mileage may vary... but I found something that I badly wanted to do, that probably every little boy in the world dreams of doing, and decided that I was going to make it happen.
