Post sensory stuff you have or have learnt about.

Heated pads

I love heat. I can hug radiators.

There are tonnes heat up products, not all of them carry the risk of scalding. Quite a few are flexible and you can heat up in the microwave. The problem is is a lot of them have some sent, especially lavender :x , which I can't tolerate. You are hard pressed to find unscented ones and they seem to sell out quickly. I found the this company that makes good quality heat pads:

I have used pet pads before because they tend to last for a long time, but are not so flexible.

Noise canceling head phones

I'm getting the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 Noise Cancelling Headphones for Christmas. They are supposed to be as good as bose but less pricey.

Earplugs
These seem to be recommended (Silent Ear and the whole range) :

The later is good if you are particularly sensitive to sounds in the morning.

ive always been obsessed with scrathcing my head and clicking my joints. Scratching my head has always felt amazinlgy good (more so than any other body part), particularly if osmeone else is doing it.

It calms me down a lot and makes me happier.

It wasn't 'til I moved to nasty, cold Europe that I discovered the miracle of hot water bottles in a bed. :D

'Course back in the States, I had a waterbed with a heater in it. *D i v i n e* .

You should try the other heating products they have have better thermal properties than water and better heat transfer than rubber.

This is not quite what I understand it to be. Apparently there is a textured mit for to stoke you skin.

I love soft things. Try the nap dream bear or nap dream blanket from Brookstone.

Taste fascinates me. So much of taste in not to do with the taste sensors. What tastes are you sensitive to?

I love the feel of the ends of my hair. I will sometimes get fur brushes to carry around. I absolutely love the feel of a lock of hair flipping through my fingers. I often do it without being aware that i am doing it. If i am uncomfortable or uneasy in a situation, i will have a lock of hair in my hand and will be rubbing the ends against my thumb. ahhh. I avoid putting much of anything in my hair so that it is soft. i cant stand the feel of crunchy hair.

ahh... those thingies are sooo great... dont think i could ever get driven out of it if they had a full body bed type one :D

Image

the other thing that probably sounds the best with me is the weird glove type thingys... i do like soft rubbery thingys...

also another thing would be weighted blankets because deep pressure = sleep with me... and im constatly falling asleep during x-rays... i always think to myself after x-rays "damnit... if i were able to walk i would have walked right outta there wearing the lead apron" :D

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

For visual/light based sensitivities these things "might" work for you. I can barely live without mine and it has made a HUGE difference. I didn't even realise how effected I was by light sensitivities until someone put me onto these. I was red spectrum 'intolerant' (if that's the right word.) Fluorescent light doesn't really effect me that much. I mean, it sort of looks like a strobe effect and the buzzing is intense, but it doesn't annoy me or effect me in that I can not stand it or anything.

As for the rest of it... if you have light sensitivities definitely check it out. It may not work for you, but if it does... w00t!
