I wear a watch, a ring and stud earrings. However, I can't wear anything loose like bracelets. I always wore my watch on the right wrist until I got a chunky one and had to swap it to the left to write. It took weeks to get used to and really annoyed me.

I'm also too lazy for jewellery. I tend to get some earrings and leave the same ones in for a year or so. I never wanted my ears pierced but my Mum said everyone would think i was a lesbian (I was only 9).

I ALWAYS wear jewellery - three gold rings on the fingers of my right hand and three silver ones on my left's, earrings and chain around my neck. When I don't wear them I start to feel as if I was naked, in other words, as if I lacked something really important. But it wasn't so until I started to attend high school - before, I used to wear only earrings. But I never wear shoddy jewellery - I mean, nothing below silver, any plastic crap.

Today I was going to buy a pair of really cool screw earrings on the occasion of my birthday (I'm having my birthday in less than two weeks time) - they looked like silver spiders whose abdomen was a small artificial gem having an amber color but finally I resigned. I was looking today for a birthday present for myself but I didn't notice anything that special in the shops.

I wear my engagement ring. And it's rubies and emeralds, so it looks like candy. Hard to resist putting it in my mouth :P

Anything else - yeah, I fiddle with it to the point of distraction. Better to leave it off so I can focus on what I should be doing.

Yeah, I've got the "can't do jewelry" thing. I can't wear rings, bracelets, wristwatches, necklaces, or even ties. And for the most part it is not something I worry terribly much over. I actually enjoy being fond of pocket watches - there's an Aspie style for ya; keep your eyes open for folks who prefer pocket watches. (Although I suppose I do have a "normal" friend who likes them too - but I'm convinced he stole the notion from me.)

I did catch more than a little grief for not being able to wear my wedding ring for years I was supposed to. 8O I tried, really, but it drove me freaking crazy having a metal loop around one of my fingers; I would subconsciously keep popping it off, and almost lost it a few times because of that (f**k off, Freud; it was a sensory thing.) Ultimately I did keep it in a special little shrine at home, which of course meant a lot to me, but to nobody else because it was not "normal".

Good fortune,

I hardly wear any jewelry. I wore necklaces all the time when I was little and would wear bracelets and fake rings. I have always played with my necklaces. One time I had on a hand made one and I tugged at it so hard it broke and I started crying and my mother and another grown up started picking up all the pieces and putting them in a baggy. I was about four.

All I know is that I'm allergic to nickel, so I can't wear much jewelry unless it's gold or hypoallergenic, especially when it comes to earrings. I do have 2 piercings in my ears, and as long as I wear gold or hypoallergenic posts, I'm fine. I'm able to wear watches as for some reason, they don't cause rashes, even if the strap is metal.

I don't wear jewelry at all. I have always resisted it. I never got my ears pierced. Ouch! Why would I want holes in my ears? I'm glad nobody made me do it. Jewelry always seemed like an unnecessary nuisance. My mother convinced me to wear a necklace or pin for job interviews when I was out of school and looking for work. I usually drop the practice once I land a job and go back to being jewelryless.

I've never had any appreciation for jewelry.

I used to wear a watch, but since I've given it up, I don't miss it at all. Glasses I hate to wear. Contact lenses are much more comfortable.

I don't wear any. Either discolors my skin or pain (rings) or just drives me up a wall just cause it is there. And I am sorry but wearing wedding rings is overrated anyways.

Is not wanting to wear jewelry an Aspie trait?

I don't like rings... I feel constricted by them alot of the time.. I do wear a bracelet or necklace on occasion, but take them off as soon as I get home.

Funny I have no issue with jewelry, I like it, but regarding things around your wrists? I can't eat at ALL with sleves at my wrists. I just can't.

The main reason I can't wear jewelery is that I'm incapable of not fiddling with it. I tug on necklaces until they break when I'm stressed. Rings go off and on and off and on my finger, and eventually get left somewhere. Watches I like to turn over and over and over, which breaks them.

Exactly, and the fiddling itself is partially caused by the feeling of the jewellery. Wearing some makes me feel almost trapped in a way.

Yeah, I don't like jewelry either. I've tried wearing it before, but I would always fiddle with it and it would irritate me. I don't like wearing anything that is nonfunctional. Jewelry is just tribalistic nonsense to me. Why would an asocial person want to wear a social signifier?

I also don't like turtlenecks or anything that touches my throat. It makes me feel like I'm choking and I must remove it. Being restrained in any way bothers the hell out of me, too.

It's not that I hate it. But I can wear rings on the fingers and earrings on the ear if they are small and of good material. Necklaces also the same, good materials. But on my wrists. no watch no bracelets

I went to a blessing way two days ago and have a string on my wrist I am suppose to wear until my friends baby is born and it totally annoying me. I have the same reaction to bandaids too.
Is this normal for asperger's?

Me too. I hate rings, watches, necklaces, etc. If I ever get married, I'm getting a tattoo of a ring instead of an actual ring.

Not jewelry specifically, but aspies tend to give more priority to comfort than to appearance.

Also, Aspies can be sensitive to touch, which would make them less likely to want to wear jewelery.
