I remember the colors of the environments that I was in back then; with especial emphasis on a yellow room.

I remember my old house here in Portland and my bedroom. I remember eating in my high chair, being pushed in a stroller, playing on the toy ship at one of the malls here, watching my two Disney Sing Along Tapes, I even remember the Christmas in 1987 but all I remember is getting the tricycle and a toy piano made by Fisher Price.
I can remember knocking this wooden shoe off the wall when I bumped into the door to one of the bedrooms on the main floor and my Dad said "Look what you did" and I just look at it trying to figure out how I did it. He meant I knocked it off the wall by banging into the door but because I was only two, I didn't know I had knocked it off the wall. Do toddlers know about vibrations and they can still knock things off of shelves or walls without touching it? I don't think so.

I can remember my mother telling me I remember our old house just from the pictures and the movies and she said I was three when I remember all those things. Well I remembered knocking the shoe off the wall before I even saw it on video my Dad took of me. I even remembered being given my medicine and my mom had to sit on top of me to give it to me and I remember I was really scared whenever she gave it to me. But I didn't know all of the details till I saw it on video when I was 12. She was only giving me medicine. That was what I missed. Well I didn't even know what it was at the time. I remembered it from my two year old perspective.

I remember when I was little, I remember I had this strange memory about before I came in the real world, I used to live somewhere else, everything around me was all green and I heard my parents all right but it was just me by myself. Maybe it was me remembering being in my mother's tummy?

The earliest memory I have is me being at this house all the time because that was where my parents always took me too. My mother or father. The place was filled with toys and kids. I remember there was the front door and inside was the living room and on the left side was the kitchen. I remember I was always quiet there and didn't play with anyone else. But I don't really remember what the lady looked like but only kid I remember is this black girl. I can remember her standing in front of the couch talking to her while I was lying on the couch naked because I was having my diaper changed. I remember she had this tub of water you put you feet in and she set it down right beside her. I can remember she started to touch me down there and I hated it. Some of my online friends have thought I was maybe being sexually molested but I was probably was getting a diaper rash and she was just wiping cream on it but I remember she was touching my folded skin. Maybe she thought it was infected so she was just looking at it because it has always stuck out from my other skin that is supposed to fold over it. Who knows what she was really doing. I was only a baby.

EDIT: Okay I remember too much to list everything here.

http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt40111.html It's a thread about our earliest memories I once started so I can't see any point in repeating the same here. I don't see anything extraordinary in having memories from really very early childhood and on the opposite - I was amazed every time I happened to read that somebody didn't remember anything from before they started school, for example.

i think there is a collective memory characterize the autistic community
that many of us are able to remember things happened at the early age , a phase in which the brain is growing ,.. i think its souds miraculous

I have only one memory from before I was four, a painting of a Japanese lady in a garden. I asked my mother about it one day when I was about 10 or so and she was shocked because that painting hadn't been there for many years, she didn't think I could possibly remember it but I described it to her perfectly.

My next memory is of jumping up and down on my mother's bed watching the image of myself in the mirror on her dresser. As I bounced up and down my pig tails bounced and tickled my face. I was wearing a turquoise dress with butterfly designs. I remember it very clearly. When I described this memory to my mother she told me it happened on my first day of kindergarten. She said I was so excited about going to school but I don't remember going to school that day, just my turquoise dress

remember waking my baby brother by trying to get to the Sugar Pops that Mom had placed on the top shelf in the kitchen. Clumsy me dropped the box, which hit the floor, and woke my bro. Mom was upset, but thinking about it, it must have been about early '61 or so.

I remember where I was when Kennedy was shot...watching cartoons after getting back from Kindergarten..;)

I also seem to have a great film-ographic/photographic memory that lasts years upon years, but a short term memory that definitely isn't the greatest, as I must ask a person their name over and over again until it's drilled into my brain. I remember being carried in a laundry bag as a pre-1-year old (I loved that beyond the world); falling into the "big boy toilet" by being too young and small, getting my shorts wet; crapping in the shower; the first time I wrote my name on a round, thin, plastic, tupperware top, the "n" in my name three to four sizes too large; meeting my kindergarten teacher, having to write my name, my "n" still too large; learning to speed-read an anti-piracy MPAA disclaimer on the TV (around kindergarten-1st grade, don't remember); accidentally ordering some pay-per view (I used to think it was "paper view" ) movie for somewhere about $3.50 to $5, the more probable being the former; watching a Gateway computer delivery truck come to our school; listening to a conversation between my kindergarten teacher and the assistant for "looking at the puddles to see if there is rain"; some field trip to the aquarium, and being afraid of touching the sea anemone, then crying; playing on the frozen puddles from the overnight frost, and watching a kid slip then cry; swimming in a swimming pool with one of my two, maybe three, kindergarten friends; the first days of moving away from Washington state and going to Maui; being amazed by a "green gecko,"a chameleon; using my bathroom, just to have a gecko fall on me; watching some gecko stuck in paint, I helped him by pulling his detachable tail off... I don't want to list anymore, if you cared, I think you might have received the picture now. I think I got so focused in this just to go through my old memories that have been stuck in my brain for the past 15 years. :P

Sorry about that.

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I remember when I was two or three I was on the stoop coloring on a huge piece of paper and then my baby sitter picked me up and held me over the railing and I remember I wanted her to put me down because I didn't like the fact she was interrupting me and when I kept saying "let go" she dropped me and I landed in the bush below and had scratches on my legs and she came down and asked me if I was okay. I remember it was a long fall but I remember seeing the house years later and the stoop wasn't that high from the ground. Only about three feet maybe.

I remember quite a lot, and quite vividly. Only difference is that everyone and everything seem blown out of proportion in my memories... I've been to where I spent my childhood, and discovered my old house wasn't nearly as big as I thought. :P

It is said that many spectrumites have great photographic memory, yet have horrible short-term memory.

Yep, same with me. I can remember so much from when I was five to about ten, then I lose a couple years :D I can barely remember my homework each night, but I can remember the homework from grade 7 :P

it's believed these type of episodic memories are linked with hippocampal maturation... which does occur around this age! so i'd say i believe you. i remember stuff from about that age too... not a whole whole lot... but some specific memories
