l33t

I don´t get it. What do you mean?

Quote:
Initially, the word leet was used as an adjective, to primarily describe the behavior or accomplishments of others in the community. In that usage, Leet generally carries the same meaning when referring to either the game prowess or, in original usage, hacking expertise of another person. From adjective form its use then expanded to include use as an expletive in reaction to a demonstration of the former qualities.

See the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet .

EDIT: I am not sure why the Wikipedia article describes the word l33t as an 'expletive' when it is used as an adjective. There is nothing vulgar, per se, about it.

Thanks for the info. I learn something new everyday.

Self-diagnosed in '07 with autistic disorder
Diagnosed with Asperger's in '07 by a psychiatrist
Diagnosed with autistic disorder in '07 by same psychiatrist
Evaluated by 2xclinical psychologists who said I have Asperger's in '07
Seen a mixture of the two above who said I have either of the two aforementioned disorders for government evaluation (Kanner's to Asperger's)

I never had a problem with people saying I'm not "on" the spectrum; there's just been conflict in figuring out where I am on said spectrum.

Psychotherapist, though on the lines of having autistic traits rather than Aspergers since it wasn't a term in common use then.

When my mother first thought that I had Aspergers she made an appointment with a psychologist. After the meeting, the psychologist referred me to a neuro-psychiatrist...Thats who officially diagnosed me.

I was diagnosed last year, at age 18, by a child and youth psychologist. Nothing fancy, not very interesting.

her letter to my GP says she's a 'consultant psychiatrist'. NHS. I have no idea what her specialisms are or how good she is. She seems the most not-mental-herself of all the shrinks I've seen, which is nice. The first one, when I was fifteen, spent her whole time with me trying to dig up repressed memories that didn't exist.

A team of a psychiatrist, a neuropsychologist, and a couple neurologists, originally (with the psychiatrist performing the final diagnosis) -- evaluation started age 13 (interrupted by going to college for a year age 14) and diagnosis happened age 14 and 15 (several times during several stays in a mental institution). I was also examined by a social worker and psychologist age 16 to go to special ed and several diagnoses including an autism-related one were listed. And then later on the same psychiatrist re-diagnosed me on community college forms (age 18 ), and then did so again (age 19) at the urging of... I think she's a psychologist, but a relatively famous autism "expert". (I don't think much of her understanding of the "why" of autism, but she knows the "what", and she wanted someone who'd known me and my family awhile to make the actual final diagnosis.)

The various things it was coded under over the years included PDD-NOS, developmental disorder NOS, central nervous system disorder NOS, and autistic disorder (not because of changes in me but because of changes in what was perceived to be needed to keep the insurance companies from either denying treatment or going for permanent institutionalization -- what my parents were told was always that I had "autism" with "idiot savant features").

First seen by paed. neuro doctors at hope hospital in salford,as a toddler [and miscounted as having autism or anything else with a specific label due to not having visible brain damage].
Was mis diagnosed with another ASD [AS] by a mental health pyschologist x councilor,he said he had never worked with autism before and the gp had said he was the most experienced in autism/learning disabilities he knew of [says a lot about autism and asperger specialists in manchester],he diagnosed am after a few questions about interests and what am now know was ToM stuff, and didn't bother to ask family anything about dev. history and why speech was either not there or only in one word answers or echolilia which should have been a hint it was a lot more than AS,he also diagnosed ADHD combined type and multiple learning difficulties but couldn't be more specific as he doesn't work with developmental stuff.

Am was then assessed and given help over a year,by a social services speech therapist, who was also a specialist in autism.
He assessed every little or large detail, every difficulty, every interest etc,he didn't for one moment start stereotyping am,at the end of it he said am was definitely far on the autism side [around mf],as opposed to AS,but he is unable to officially diagnose because he is a council st,and doesn't have the authority,he has made the findings of the assessment into a book for family, staff, social services etc though so they can learn more about am to.

Have been told often to go and see another specialist for official label change,as it would get am the support and understanding am need,as at the moment,it's not happening because of being stereotyped from the first label by some untrained staff and it's causing quite severe 'regression',so much am now being forced to go to a gp appointment to get referral to a neuro yet again.
They think am might have brain damage from headbanging or epilepsy but am think it'll be a waste of time, and they only need to look at whats' happening to routine to see whats' going on.

Am need to find a autism specialist who can formally diagnose,it's unfair being that the speech therapist who diagnosed am is in manchester and is one of the best autism specialists out there but can't formally give labels.
Have gone on a bit with this post, but does anyone here know of any autism experienced pyschs in manchester,NHS or not?

I was diagnosed by Professor Brugha. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Professor of Psychiatry.

A psychiatrist recommended to my doctor to refer me to Prof Brugha for an Aspergers diagnosis and that he would have to visit me at my home because I havent been able to leave for so long. Prof Brugha had sent me and my mum questionnaires before visiting and when he arrived he wanted to talk to both of us individually. Speaking to my mum alone first then me. It took between 3-4 hours then he confirmed that I have Aspergers.

I think I was lucky to get a relatively quick and painless diagnosis of Aspergers from someone highly qualified to diagnose me. He has expertise in Aspergers along with many other things and also Anxiety Disorders and Phobias which seem to be even more relevant to me.

Before he came to visit I had allready looked online to find out about him as I do with most things and got all this information here: http://www.expertsearch.co.uk/cgi-bin/find_expert?6121

It says his geographical area of work is ALL of the UK.

I am not sure if he is NHS or not I know nothing about how it all works. I just know my doctor sent him and it didnt cost anything for me to get diagnosed.

I've never actually been diagnosed with anything. I've had a whole lot of specialists and they all had labels for me.

Major Severe Depressive Disorder w/o psychotic episodes
Depressive Disorder
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
and a couple personality disorders

Stupid psychologists.

Now I have "Asperger's Disorder" added to my list of possible abnormalities.
