Does anyone else have trouble typing? I can close my eyes and repeat every key, in order, but can not type very fast at all. I just don't seem to be improving. It almost seems that my brain doesn't work fast enough, like I'm stuck at one speed. And forget about typing without looking at the keyboard. Maybe I'm just too impatient. I've been at it for about 2 years and feel like I'm maxed out. Anyone else?

I have problems typying as well.

I once did one of those typing courses from CD. Did quite well until I was required to speed up too much, I think my brain overloaded from stress (shakes and all). I just gave up eventually and forget everything. Now I started again I've progressed to two fingers and can't remember where all the letters are, but improving.

I also have dyslexic tendencies but am a perfectionist which slows me down (got to try and spell correctly).

It's all a frustrating pain but I persevere (but then don't most of us?)

Sounds like my problem, exactly.

My typing got good after years of online games, but it's limited, because I don't type with my hands in the right position.

type just fine; I took it in high school (this predates PCs) to meet girls. Met plenty, but the teacher put a kybosh on that...;) I do notice that I'm starting to transpose letters more than I used to...

I type quickly enough, but my accuracy sucks. Fortunately I can catch my mistakes and hit backspace quickly enough as well, but it's a pain still. I have the whole keyboard memorized and don't have to look at it at all when I'm typing, but it's like my fingers jump around and hit other keys or hit the right ones in the wrong order.

I don't type properly or fast. I type with my right index and middle finger, space with my right thumb, and ctrl shift with my left index. I hunt and peck and absolutely need to see the keyboard. If I practiced enough I could do it right, but I don't do enough typing for it to be worth my while. However I can 10 key very fast without looking. Got alot of practice with the number typing on my last job.

I definitely have an unorthodox method for typing, nor do I type quickly. I think my typing is worse than it should be for someone with a lot of practice (like me).

And yes, I've had "proper" training--lots, in fact. I think I just type differently, just like I speak and think differently. I think it's silly to expect everyone to have the same typing method. Especially considering the fact that the keyboard we use was designed to be very difficult and laboring to use (so as not to overload the typewriter).

I have no problem, I can type at about 80 wpm, I got that fast mostly by programming, I'm also teaching myself the dvorak keyboard in the hope to type even faster, I can do about 30 wpm on that one at the moment. I am fortunate enough to have reasonably good coordination though.

I can't type fast if my life depended on it, but it doesn't bother me at all, since I've never had to.

I also can't type without looking at the keyboard, it would be a mess if I tried! :P

I can type fast, as fast as one person can type with three fingers, which I've been told is surprisingly fast for just three fingers. About 60 to 70 wpm. But I cannot say in which order the keys are on my keyboard. I must know unconsciously, because I can type blind, but I don't know the order of keys consciously. I couldn't say where the 'e' is or the 't'. I do know the 'a' is somewhere on the left from memory though!
Maybe the key is not thinking about where the keys are?

I'm pretty good for a one-finger typist (shift key with left index finger)

I'm so old that I learned to do this on old manual (not electric) typewriters. You really had to hit those keys hard! I still do that to this day - if I type very much, my fingertip starts to hurt

I can type quickly and accurately, but I look directly at the keyboard 70% of the time. Apparently that's a bad thing...
