Well, My schedule has changed because of the simester change. This is giving me the dreadded Gym. It is a major change in my schooling and I need a way out. I can take Marching Band, but only next year. I also need two P.E credits or I fail. I've skipped gym for the past week by going to the guidance councler.
How do I convince my Councler to let me have a schedule change!?!?

I don't know how you could convince your counselor to let you change your schedule. I hated gym so much I failed it twice, which just made it worse because I then had to take it two more times to pass, so I would suggest just going ahead and getting it over with.

I never much minded gym except the semester that I had it first period. Physical activity at 8am makes me vomit. A lot. I guess it was a good way to get out of a day of class though.

I just stopped showing up :D It was last thing in the afternoon so I went home early. I did this for every PE lesson for two years. And the crazy thing is that when I used to go to PE lessons I got rubbish school reports for them, but after I stopped showing up I started to get much more positive reports. They said things like "She is making strong progress this term." It must have been because the teacher hadn't got a clue who I was or that I never showed up, so he decided to keep it as vague and generally positive as possible. It did make me laugh though.

Maybe they noticed you were "running" home.

Come down with asthma. And joint problems.

I have both. It helped me get out of some of the more ridiculous activities like intramural basketball. *rolls eyes*

Well why don't you want to do gym? Is it only because of the change in schedule or is there a more specific reason?
I suggest to just tell your counsellor why you don't want to do gym. It's the best that you can do.

Did you mention this to your parents? I wonder if you could get a medical excuse from P.E. I would think to get a medical waiver, you would have to get your parents to back you up.

It will be hard sell if you're in a public school. They like everyone to have P.E., no matter what.

In my school in Melbourne (Australia) PE covered all sporting activity. I did OK - except when we had gymnastics! I did all I could to avoid it when they went to stuff I was scared of. I believe now that the reason I was scared was because I was subconciously aware of my late developing dexterity (ie I couldn't ride a bicycle until I was nearly a teenager) and consequently getting hurt. So I went the medical excuse at short notice - faking headaches and other injuries as well as "forgetting" my gear. This was one of the lies I used to do that I didn't get away with a lot - sometimes it worked.

I agree with Tortuga about telling your parents. I also agree with Britanny about opening up completely about your concerns with your counsellor.

Sometimes there are ways to take PE as a correspondance course, at least here in Canada. That's what I did. If they had made me take it I would have just skipped it and gone somewhere else! I doub that they would have noticed at the beginning, because nobody knew who I was. Either that or tell your counsellor that a doctor or pysch person said that it wouldn't be good/safe for you to take PE with the personal challenges you have.

You could break something ;)
A few years ago i broke my big toe by stumbling on some stairs.
Took me 3 days to find out, so little did it hurt.
But i didn't have to go to gym for 6 months :D
And i got to keep my shoes on inside everywere on doctors orders :)
