Ok, I really need help with my biting, its getting bad! My bf has bruises all over his arms and hands, i have deformed knuckles due to it. I'm biting my hand as I type this, between every pause I bite! Somebody said its due to sensory, somebody said its due to anxiety, somebody said its stimming, somebody said its due to ticcing and tourettes. Ok I have to bite, and can't control it, I literally bite everything! I bite remote controls, walls, pillows, blankets, phones, pens, hands, arms, legs, fingers, literally anything that comes in touch with my mouth. My dentist has a file on me that says "beware of biting" yes weird aint it? I bite the dentist at least once everytime i go there. Anything that comes between my teeth i chomp down. I've been known to draw blood, one doctor told me i have a jaw of a pitbull, i lock down, and he said the strength in my mouth is scary, ive been known to break glass, broke a bone in my finger, grinding some of my teeth down, bite through steel, its crazy. My autism specialist saids it probably a combination of sensory, needing that feeling of something between my teeth and a tic, because i cant control it! I thought it was due to anxiety, but i always do it 24-7 so who knows lol.

What I've done to help it? I've tried vibrating teething sensory ring which i already broke, other teething rings that ive snapped in half, gum which i choked on haha, tried not biting, holding it in, and maybe lasted 5 seconds before i literally go crazy with a headache which usually follows a meltdown afterwards, tried thinking of something else to get my mind of it, nope still found myself biting myself. Tried every kind of biting toy out there, and literaly bit it to pieces in literally minutes! Even my autism specialist, psychologist, neurologist, the OTs,PTs, Recreational therapists I'm around allll the time are out of ideas! Now usually i go on with my life, but my poor bf suffers, and my hands and arms suffer as well. My bf can't even move sometimes because the pain i inflict into him, and when he tries to get me to let go, i can't, and i dont want to hurt him or me, and he knows its not intentionally or nasty, something is wrong 8O ! Anybody got any suggestions? I'm so desperate for once, that im going to post this on every site I've been on!

Have you tried to train yourself to bite only one specific thing? Like a hard rubbery toy or something that won't hurt you?
You could carry it around with you and when the need arises, you'll have something to bite.

Sorry, I didn't see the part where you mentioned biting toys in your original post. Um...have you ever tried those things boxers use in their mouths to protect their teeth and gums? It's not comfy but it'll already be in your mouth and I think it's durable. Is the urge to bite sudden or do you feel it 'building up'?

No problem, though I don't think I'm helping at all :(

I hope you don't take offense, but how about something similar to:

Image

Not necessarily in that shape. That material looks really durable and soft, so you can clench your teeth down on it and not suffer a headache, or at least have less of a headache.

I know this may sound like a joke but:

Chew gum...?

I know I grind my teeth, clench down as well. I often bite my tongue. So now I just chew on gum. Ha, it sounds silly, but it sorta works for me.

Hmm...let us see.

Have you tried chewing on soft textures? I often put the strings from my hoodie in my mouth. Other times I chew on the tail end of my button-shirt. You could try snacking?

Have you tried putting something (like wrapping thick cloth) around your hand so as not to hurt it as much?

I know you said holding it in gives you a headache, but have you tried holding it in for just a short delay, and increasing that delay gradually?
