I feel like I'm on both ends of that spectrum but not at all in the middle. My problem is moderation. There is a subconscious talent among normal people of building up personas and facades and levels of interaction so they can regulate thier personal involvement in a situation. I was never able to build those filters and consequently I focus the entirety of who I am on that situation which is usually overkill for everyone involved. Knowing the manner and intensity with which I often need to interact, I am justifiably scared of myself and tend to avoid "things" about 90% of the time.
When I was in school for example, I was always either the kid who never said a word and was visibly shaken if brought to attention or I was the annoying kid who everyone that just wanted to learn what was on the test hated because I would never stop raising my hand and would always derail the discussion on "interesting" tangents.
Lol I did/do that too. I can't help myself sometimes, even when I'm half panicky. Still this is a great deal different from walking up to someone on the street at random and start chatting to them.
Had any weird or challenging compulsions?
I have this really weird one. Don't laugh
About a year and a half ago I came up with this idea that I would buy loads of ping pong balls and put them in a bag. Then go to Battersea park and turn the bag upside down somewhere noticeable like on top the peace pagoda stairs.
I actually went to Battersea park on my own with the bag. I also went round to see the ducks like I always do. I carried my bag with me as a walked around but I didn't release them.
I know what your thinking! I've lost the plot.
I guess it would be a really audacious thing to do. See once you let them drop, all the balls bounce off each other and on the floor. It is totally impossible to stop or know the path of each ball.
I have the idea in my head that people would be staring. But somehow I wouldn't be embarrassed, I' just be calm watching them. Then after it over I would try find all the balls and pick them up.
I still have 25 ping pong balls and I don't even play lol
