I have several fantasy worlds that link with each other through rock music 8) .
In the first one, I live between England and the U.S.A. in the 1960s and hang out with Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones.

In the second one, I live in California in 1972 and I hang out with all the English bands that visit (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, etc.)

In the third one, I live in London in 1977 and hang with the Sex Pistols and the Bromley Contingent.

See for me the world is a cross between the matrix and a holodeck with most of the characters simulated or just one of a myriad of alternate universes. Either way my reality is a star-trek based universe that has contacted the worlds created by venor vinge (bobbles and rainbows end), stargate (don't know the creator) , david brin (uplift universe), and george lucas (starwars for anyone thats been in an alternate universe for 30-40 years). I am in charge of a semi-autonomous entity created by the UFP (united federation of planets for the uninitiated (picard/kirk/sisko/janeway for the even more uninitiated (if you don't get that it's sad :wink: ))) called STAG (star triangle advanced guard) i don't want to get into star triangle (the latest excuse is the three brightest stars in UFP logo) advanced in both meanings of the word (forward and technologically superior) guard as we are primarily defensive I'll post the unfinished first chapter on my blog later today

Same here! Can we talk about ours via PM?

Same here too! What is your native language?

That's interesting... and a lot of people aren't willing to admit it either, I'd bet. :P

Star Triangle...does Section 31 know about this?..;)

I've thought about Star Trek, but if I was a character in it, I'd be Reg Barclay..;)

Section 31 was dissolved by Starfleet and its remaining operatives are being hunted down

I have one of my own creation, but it is private. I've never spoken about it to anyone outside of WP. I am glad to see I am not the only one. When I was young I read "Never Promised You a Rose Garden" and I really identified with the heroine. (The movie sucked). But I realized that if I ever told anyone I would be locked up so I didn't.

I used to get lectured on the difference between fantasy and reality, with the implication I did not know the difference. Which is BS. I did know the difference but preferred my world to "theirs". Mine was much nicer. Also the same people who frowned on imaginary friends/worlds didn't see anything wrong or inconsistent about teaching me to believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and God/Jesus. The last one, they said, was NOT imaginary even though you couldn't see or hear or touch him.

When I was about six or seven my brother and I got into a fierce argument about the nature of our imaginary worlds. Right in the middle of the argument it dawned on me, "This must be what grownups do when they argue about religion." In other words, religions are nothing more than elaborate communal fantasy worlds for adults.

Now this is something I know a lot about!

When I was a teenager at school I was foolish and naive enough to try and involve my classmates in my world. Big mistake! They went along with it for fun for a little while - and I thought I had a fail safe plan for making friends.

WRONG!

By the time I left school that world was all I had to keep me sane.

Today that world still "exists" but it's in it's place where it belongs because I knew that in order to survive, I needed to adopt as much of the real world as I could. If I can link it to the fantasy world, that's a bonus, but it's not an aim.

The parts of my website, Phil's World, that represent that fantasy world are empty at present because I'm too busy with the real stuff, but one day if I get around to it;

http://philsworld.a.wiki-site.com/index ... tasy_Footy
http://philsworld.a.wiki-site.com/index ... _Wrestling
http://philsworld.a.wiki-site.com/index ... and_Helper

To an extent my political party is also a part of this, but it also represents my genuine views on a lot of political issues;

http://philsworld.a.wiki-site.com/index ... tion_Party

These sections are the main reason I have the following rule incorporated into my website;
Anyone who enters this Wiki and creates an account enters a world that represents Phil’s view of reality.

That rule isn't there because of other views that I have, contrary to the views of other people (off this forum I would point out).

Sorry! This is my reaction to the subject of this thread!

My dreams are the place for my imaginary worlds. Its pretty much all I dream about.

Though however when I am walking around, I sometimes imagine what Alien's would think of human civilisation, or in thousands of years what archaologists from the future would think of this civilisation.

I did in 7th-9th grade. And whenever I watch the movies or read the books I take little vacations back to visit. :wink:

Where in Middle Earth?

I created some original characters for a story when I was 11
Inside my head I created their houses, their places of work, their streets, the bars they go to.. and 14 years later I still see them, I even dream about them :)
Its just a shame I'm not a very good storyteller!

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned the Gormenghast books by Mervyn Peake;

and has anyone read the Helliconia trilogy by Brian Aldiss?
