For Germany, I like Bergisch-Gladbach as a place to live. Mainly because despite being a small town, where sensory overload is not probably, it is big enough to have the adventages of a real city (S-Bahn, good bookstores, stores which sell the food, I routinely eat... ).

I've never been to Toronto, but I hear it's like a smaller New York--a really busy type of city, definately not my kind of place.

I have to say that I love living in Vancouver. It's a beautiful city, with kind of a relaxed attitude, and a very diverse population. There are so many different people that you really don't feel like a freak, and it's hard to get bored. The climate is very temperate, there is lots of greenery, we have the ocean and mountains. And best of all, there is a huge labour shortage, so people are less picky when it comes to hiring! The only downside is it's expensive, but if you live in shared accomodation, then it's doable.

Well I live in Seattle now. It's nice in that it's a lot more laid back than the big east coast cities. Lots of tech jobs. Educated people. It’s also very picturesque on a sunny day with all the surrounding water and mountains. The only bad part is the transportation. Figuring out the bus system is kind of a pain and going anywhere by car is really stressful due to constant traffic jams, confusing streets, and limited parking.

However most of the cities I listed for "best cities" are either a) Canadian cities, and b) West Coast or Northern cities. Why is that?

The worst places, to me, would be the Deep South, or the northern Rockies (ID, MT, WY, etc.).

There was a time, that I wanted to live in London. That was before the December of 2005. I'm just happy to be living in Langley, now.

Probably not. I keep hearing that North Carolina is becoming more progressive, as is Tennessee.

The Deep South is basically Mississippi and Alabama. Florida and Georgia are, as well, but they are becoming much more diverse.

Texas is quite diverse, but still conservative in that we are heavily influenced by three conservative cultures: the Old South, the Old West, and Mexico.

I live in NC. I think it's wonderful they have TEACCH here, but overall I don't really like the south. You can't even get chinese delivered around here, just pizza. It's killin me.

I'd like to hear more about Austin. I think it's a good compromise between my husband's desire to work in a game-development rich city, and for my desire to live in a home I can afford and where it's not friggin cold out all the time.

Well I was kinda of thinking is the LA area a great place for Aspies as well? I used to think it might be, but from what I've heard it's usually filled with rich snobs (who are probably as bad as southern rednecks) and ghetto people, never anyone in between.

Austin is okay, but it's outskirts are just like the South and the people from those outskirts areas often creep in and visit once in a while.

My license was destroyed and honestly, I truly want to emigrate to another country because of what happened to me in the South.. it pretty much destroyed my life, unless I can get into Australia or Canada or some other country that will allow me in with the DUI... I hate NC now. I really feel that I was unfairly persecuted because of my disability... I wish there was some way to get a fair trial or get my record sealed/expunged so I could emigrate to another country sometime in the future... If there was a city in the U.S. that would treat a person with NLD/asperger's fairly and accept them, then I'd like to seriously consider moving there for a while... otherwise, maybe there's someplace in another country that would accept me..

I find Toronto to be a really cold place. Not the temperature but the people. When I went to Quebec all the people were really friendly compared to Toronto.
