Like today, I was in the bathroom when 1st block (what we call periods here in North Carolina) ended, and I didn't even hear the bell for 2nd block to start because I either didn't hear it through the door or there was too much noise in the bathroom and I didn't even realize I was late to class until the teacher gave me a sweep form (like a tardy slip) and I wrote down why I was late like I said in this post.

That happens with me too. Not really the bell but when I sit with my friends, half the time because of my loud cafe I do not know what they are saying expect the person next to me. Unless I am depressed. For some reason I have like ultra sound when I am depressed.

not so much a problem with bells and other loud things, and i'm constantly looking at my watch to avoid being late too.
but at lunch today my friends were talking and I was pretty zoned out and i thought i heard someone mention harris teeter (i know someone who works there so i was going to bring that up) but when i asked "what about harris teeter?" they just looked at me like i was crazy. . . apparently i was listening in on a convo someone was having at another table

I tend to space out a lot, but as for hearing problems, I actually have a very acute sense of sound.

I have the opposite problem; no one can seem to understand the things I say :S I have a certain intellectual monotone that can be very difficult for people who don't know me to understand. :S

Yes, especially on the phone.

bah, I hate phones with a passion :S I can't stand the idea of talking to someone without seeing them.

Our Family has learned to use some sign language. It would definitely be easier for me to understand people if there was signing along with speaking. Lipreading mught be a skill that I should pick up.

Yes, like for example we were having a training meeting at work the other day and two people right behind me kept clicking their pens and whispering to each other (because they had heard it all before and were bored). As a result it was a totally wasted session for me as far as I was concerned. This has happened before in meetings and apparently the people in charge don't seem to see or hear it, because they just let it go on.

No, I did not say anything to the offenders, maybe I should have. Or else moved. And if anyone asks why I will just say I can't hear very well where I am sitting.

Yes, but most of the time it's more of a delay. I will ask the person to repeat what they said a split second before it registers.

yeah, i do have that problem, I always ask people to repeat what they said and then I would say "never mind, i got it" my brain takes time to process sounds, thats why I cant follow verbal instructions.
and the way I speak makes people think im mocking them, people often tell me I sound sacrastic or as if I were talking to someone stupid XD I also use a lot of complicated words when i talk (I assume people know all the words/things I know)

Yes, especially if there is noise in the room.

This is mostly true in conversations for me. On the phone (when its very easy to drift off and watch something else and get focused on that) or when im doing something else. Doing something else can just be me thinking and drifting off, in which case i often have to ask the person to repeat whatever he/she was saying. Sometimes my boyfriend has to shake me to get me to react to what hes saying.

I would say alot of times I have problems in an conversation understanding what the person said even though I heard them. But for like sounds I can hear them well.

YES!! People ask me if I'm hard of hearing.

this happens to me ALL the time. there are two scenarios that usually happen:
A) in the course of a conversation they'll say something i'm not expecting them and it will just breeze past me; or
B) if i'm not expecting them to say anything at all to me, like walking past someone in the grocery store.

in either case it won't register for several seconds. when it does finally hit me i'll get flustered and embarrassed.
