Sigh, I wonder what it's like to be "cured"

Chim,

I do not doubt you'll have problems getting married or having a job later in life. You're very good at writing and a really cool person plus you've got the drive to improve yourself.

I'm worried aboput what would happen if I'm 28. Would I ever get a good job? Would I ever get married or live in a decent house? Would I be capable of paying my own bills?

I heard AS people are easier targets for scams, especially used car scams. They are 6 more likely to be robbed, traumatized or sexually or physically assaulted. They won't realize that until months later and it would be too late to call the police.

I'm sorry, I sound like those parents on Autism Speaks.

Well, I'm 28, have ADD and I'm 90% certain Aspergers as well. I've been married (my wife has ADD, there'll be no hope for the children) for seven years and while my Aspergers has caused some problems, she understands. We live in a small but comfortable house and I make decent income as (surprise) a sysadmin. We do have occasional bill trouble, but it arises more from our profound disorganization than from a lack of money.

I've fallen for a magazine subscription scam. I have a hard time saying no to salespeople and interrupting their spiel because it feels WRONG to do so. I'm better about that now than I used to be.

Bottom line: you'll probably be okay.

One part of me totally relates to the first post and I could have written it myself! The other, more spiritual "out there" part says that you don't get happiness by looking outside yourself...a cure, a boyfriend, a job, new car - whatever, won't make you happy. I'm in the same boat as you, never had a serious relationship and the AS gets in the way. But happiness comes from within, it really does!! !

I have an idea because if I am calm I am more NT so I think I have an idea what it is like to be cured and when I get like that I really want to hold on to it.

I can be calm and still not really feel NT. Maybe it's just me :S
