Have had love-hate relationships with objects all life.
This thread almost too painful to answer cos makes me think of all objects no longer have cos of ruthless/hate times when I cleared stuff out.
And my AS/pdd son has same thing , even worse including collecting broken rubbish things.
And between us had some major tragic losses . Never to be forgotten.
Won't even list anything cos gets me started on all the missing ones.

Attachment to objects; It's as if, so long as the object is probably safe, I feel safer for having them to think about, like safe representations of parts of me, precious. Don't know why.

Re, jewellery is like clothes; if wear for couple of days wear for weeks, months.

I always felt strong attachment to some objects. I have a box in which there were my leather shoes some years ago but now it serves as a box containing relics of my past - drawings I made in childhood, my white gloves I was wearing during my first communion, a pig made of plasticine (I made it when I was in kindergarten and for the next few years it used to stand on my desk and my mother was bragging about her daughter's artistic abilities every time when others directed their eyes towards this small plasticine swine), some awards I was given in primary school (badges that children got if they had very good grades) and so on. I never throw out anything and I suffer when I must do it

I very like some things that belong to me - I love looking at them, touching them... A poodle made of cristal glass, a figurine of an owl sitting on a book, a piggy-bank I got from one girl she gave me as a present when we were 13.

I threw a pillow, which landed my accident on my partner and her blanky. I apologized to my partner for upsetting her blanky...

Yeah. My Blanky hates it when people sit on her.

I'm attached to all of my computers they are almost like my children.

but I guess recently one of the things I really have coem to love is this wonderful WWII-early Korean war period british enlisted man's unmounted overcoat pattern 1953. its a beautiful rugged heavy wool coat that I think looks marvelious on me I feel connected to it somehow almost like it's always belonged to me and was waiting for me to find it all of these years. I have a similar affection for my WWII era soviet mink hat. I only wish winter lasted longer so I could use them more. I'm putting it in mothballs in a few days from now I couldn't bear to see it eaten up by moths.

I have had strong attachments to objects my entire life, but have forced myself to give up things I felt I was too attached to. In some ways I've experience life through objects and places (buildings) as much if not more than through emotional interaction with people.
