161 AS, 45 NT

Some of those questions were seriously scary. I hate it when people walk behind me. I've often wondered if I stare at people I like. I take time reading clocks. But the real clincher is that one about making traps! I'm so beyond bewildered by that one that I may have developed an irrational fear of shrinks, tonight. I'm going to go have a cigarette, and pace around a bit...

Oh I posted my results in another thread. It was 176 Aspie, 40 for NT. This quiz was much better than the one that asks if you like libraries or parties. The questions were much better.

Interesting results.

Your Aspie score: 178 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 38 of 200

Yep, the details describe me pretty well.

I have to admit that the results startled me. I took another quiz and, although the scale of the raw scores was different, it seemed as far on the Aspie side as the scores of this one do. I may be still in denial about AS.

I am also relieved. Again. (Yeah, I guess that ambivalence is fairly common among us, isn't it.)

Not to change the subject, I am still on the fence about getting a formal diagnosis. I have no doubt whatsoever that I have AS, but I already have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder type II and that caused me plenty of trouble getting insurance since I'm self-employed.

Anyway, this quiz is very interesting. I hope everyone is finding it useful. I am still new at this, so I feel like I am always catching up, but thanks for the info!

I always get a tragically low social score close to zero on this.

Or maybe I just have a low opinion of myself which has no basis in reality at all?

Can people ever have their AS traits trained out of them socially?

Put me in a situation where other people are prepared initiate conversations and include me in a supportive and friendly environment and all of my "symptoms" magically metaphorically evaporate...

If people are friendly and genuinely interested in me, but still let me have my own personal space, I tend to spend to more time with them than on my own.

This is very rare.

I find it very hard to initiate informal conversations.

Formal errands with clear structure, I'm usually fine with.

What's funny is that I've gone for testing once, and the Psych. was kind of dismissive with me. He said I sat right on the border of Asperger's but that he would not diagnose me with it. He said that a lot of my personality issues are just "who I am" and that I would have to find ways to overcome it. I was on a high dosage of Zoloft at the time, and this may be why my testing went the way it did... I don't know. I've noticed my aspie traits coming back much stronger since I got off the meds. I haven't gone back for a diagnosis since the aforementioned one (which was 3-years ago).

Bogus? If you two answered truthfully (I've seen Tim claim almost 0 in Aspie score and 200 in NT score), and without regard to your coping abilties, I frankly cannot see how you ever managed to get an ASC diagnosis. Alex, for instance, has high scores on social & social conformity-issues, he is above normal in typical communication, has no sensory issues and no compulsive behaviors. He additionally seems to have no stims, and no odd communication either. He is excelent on math and verbal communication.

Alex and Tim both have probably learned so that is why they score so low. If they answered the questions about their childhood instead of their adulthood, then their score would be a lot higher. I have done that once and my score was higher close to 180. When I took it again answering questions as an adult, my score was about 30 points lower. It just showed how much I have improved.
