I want to see a psychologist to discuss AS. I was going to call last week, but I chickened out. It's scary! I'm going to call tomorrow. I need a more specific goal, so I'll say before noon tomorrow.

I need encouragement...

I did get a bit nervous the day that I went in for my DX and talking to the shrink was stressful because I told her things that I had not talked to people about. I went through a period of ambivalence, followed by a period of life sucks. In 5 days it will be three months since my diagnosis and I think it is better to have confirmed my suspicions than to not be sure. Do what you have to do, it will be okay. :D

No thanks. I've been drunk once in my life. And I'm lactating now, so if I get drunk, so does my baby.

There are things I want to talk about. I would like a professional's opinion so I can tell people 'I have AS' not just 'I think I have AS'. I feel like I need someone on my side, and who can give my clueless self advice about social stuff.

I'd say to ask yourself why you want a diagnosis, as a suggestion.
To make a list or the reasons why you want to do this.

I'm diagnosed but my bf isn't, he doesn't want to because he has self-diagnosed.

Hope what I've said helped.

And if it's more the act of actualy going to one is what's stopping you, mayby you can promise a small treat to yourself after you called or had the first appointment. That could help

So I called the places that my HMO referred me to, and they both said that they do not take my insurance. :x So I called the HMO back and told them that. They transferred me to some kind of coordinator who wasn't there and I left her a message.

This has gone from scary to quite irritating. :x

A medal! Therefore — for meritorious.... conduct, extraordinary valor, conspicuous bravery against wicked witches, I award you - the Triple Cross."

Wear it well.

Damn bureaucracy sucks,
Stuf like this would really get under my skin.
Just wait for a message and when it doesn't come in the next 3 - 4 days or so, leave another message.

In taking on bureaucracy, that imagery may be more apt than you know... Although there might be some letter substitutions by the end of the day. *halogrin* Persevere, and vent away knowing those here want you to succeed.

Please don't encourage people to misuse drugs or alchohol. Thanks.

I fully understand, I want to talk to someone, but every time I go to pick up the phone something holds me back. I know my family doctor is in her office tonight, but here I sit...

Yeah, it's hard to ask for help! Especially for Aspies! For me, this is all new to me, I just started learning about ASDs a few weeks ago. I feel like I need a professional to bounce ideas off of and give me some guidance.

She did call me back, and is really nice. We are trying to work something out.
