My older brother bites his but he is neuro-typical as far as I can tell.

Not every quirk of your personality indicates autism or Asperger's Syndrome. You are all human and share traits common to that species which includes compulsive behaviour of various sorts.

QFT, I know loads of folk that bite their nails...

I nibble mine a bit, but not so much that they won't grow long. I'm more like to just rub my nail against the edge of my tooth. I stopped for a while when I started wearing a groove in both, and try not to do it in the same place all the time. But I've never bitten till it bleeds.

I always bit my fingernails (until it stopped more-or-less spontaneously about 6-8 years ago). Once they were short, I had to make them "regular", with no loose or uneven ends. That went for the cuticles, too. Any loose piece had to be peeled off until no loose pieces remained. Made myself bleed many times.

Can't see the point!

I bite my nails excessively and have done since I was 13.
I no longer have nails and I bite them towards the skin, I also pick my skin on my feet, a habit?

I prefer the word addiction.

I don't bite them, I just scratch my lips or teeth with them.

I still bite my fingernails off, and when they grow back, they are uneven.

I bite my fingernails many times every day, and (don't read this if you're squeamish) sometimes I also bite my toenails, even though my legs get sore from stretching and bending...

All the time. It's a wonder I haven't eaten my hand completely off.

I used to chew on them all the time, and if I wasn't paying attention, start nibbling on the finger tips too. Never really did any damage but it did kind of disturb me a little that I could get that lost. Then one day I just...stopped. No reason for it.

Me, too. I get hangnails all the time and the skin around my nails is always broken. I've made myself bleed quite a few times. I've been doing this for as long as I can remember.

EWWWWW!

I bite my fingernails and tell people to "F Off"
when they guilt trip me into believing I'll get an infection.

Everybody should try toenail biting at least once. It's new, exciting and different plus has a more organic flavor.

I've been biting my nails since I was a child. It's difficult to stop such a habit because it's like your eating McDonald's or pizza everyday.
