Having aspergers isn't just being a geek.

You may just be a highly intelligent elf!

I thought it started when your parents' zygotes got together.

MickeyJones: you have some AS traits. Whether you have enough of them, or whether you have them severely enough to be diagnosed, is not something you're likely to find out over the internet. If you want to look into this further, consult a professional. Either way, you can hang out on WP and meet some interesting people, and not be called a loser - everyone on WP knows that there's more to life than popularity, and the vast majority of us have problems with socialising.

You're definitely not a loser! You sound quite advanced academically to be graduating from college at 20 with an engineering major. That's impressive to me. I also was a social nerd in school, more interested in studying than in playing. Even today, I prefer working to socializing at my job, although I do have friends.

Finding internet sites related to your special interest could be a great way to make friends. I am a regular poster on two Siamese cat sites, and I have made a lot of great friends.

I didn't show symptoms of Asperger until i was 12 years old. I showed typical ADD behaviour when i was a kid. Never kept my mouth and ran around 24/7. Than i turned around 180 degrees and went from the most talkative and active to the most quiet in the family.

So what i'm saying is you don't have to show typical signs of Asperger when you are young.

it sounds to me like you care too much about having no friends and being left out to be an aspie.

I'm no pro tho.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of schizoid? Alot of aspies get upset that they don't have friends but then when they get them don't know how to keep them unless of course they no longer struggle with aspergers.

Some elves are this way too.

So you can be normal when you're a kid but when you reach an adult and you start to show signs of AS, that would make them an aspie? Okay. :?

If you think you are an aspie then you probably are. You don't seem like a loser so stop saying bad things about yourself, it's not nice.
And, realize that most people in this world won't care about you, that is true for everyone. Even the most popular people are fooling themselves if they think that others genuinely concerned about their well being. Did you ever hear a group of so called friends talk and gossip about each other. It's shameful the way people treat each other.

That girl probably did like you but you over analyzed it. Go with your gut feeling more.

You could be raised in an environment where the AS is a moot point, depending on how it presents. My early years were spent on a farm with only relatives around, some of which are likely spectrumites. I had troubles at school, but in those days, it was glossed over. Looking back, I see it.

You sound like you're on the spectrum to me, though that doesn't necessarily mean AS. AS is relatively rare. It is however a possibility. How is your eye contact? Do you have stims? What other symptoms do you have? If you don't feel comfortable sharing them publicly you're welcome to PM me.

If you think of yourself as a loser your self esteem might be low. Something to try with the ladies....if you start talking to one, find out there's some chemistry just by her reaction to you talking with her...like if she smiles and acts like she wants to talk to you that's a good sign. If she is looking around for someone else and acting distracted, bad sign. Find out if she has a boyfriend or husband. If she does not just give her you number. And your name too.
