I say it ALL THE TIME and have been really told off about this. I was irritated with someone who wouldn't say sorry to me when they were wrong and pointed out that I would always apologise, to which he replied "Yes but you just do it automatically". This really made me think. I realised that I don't apologise because I feel bad or am regretful, but to make the situation stop/the other person leave me alone.
So I'm saying sorry. But am I actually apologising?
