Whats the actual definition of eccentric? I've always thought of myself as eccentric but no one has ever called me that.

Maybe they just dont say it to the face.

I definately fit that definition.

I guess I just have a hard time realising that I should care what others think about me, so most of the time I just don't and that's enough to get labeled eccentric ;p

I know I'm eccentric. No living in denial on my end! No one I talk to ever seems to be interested in any of the things I am and just overall I end up feeling weird.

I'm super eccentric. I can be shy in big crowds but generally I'm just weird and I guess off-putting. But I'm interested in people enough that I have friends anyway, friends who appreciate the oddness.

... in terms of having a different worldview to most people, being quite obsessed by music, reading comics as an adult and so on.
It used to bother me a bit but then I realised two things

1. There are lots of others like me !

and

2. It really doesn't matter a limp fart in a wind tunnel what people you don't even know think of you. Can I say "**** 'em" on here ? Not sure about the rules on swearing.

I have always thought of myself as eccentric, decades before I ever heard of AS. As someone said here, I would have to go out of my way to not be (and I'm sure I could not sustain normalcy). I guess this is a product of my passion for my interests and the fact that not too many folks around me think those interests are, well, interesting. I also find it pretty amusing that I have friends specifically involved in each of those interests, and they think my other interests are weird! I know for a fact that most of my family think I'm eccentric, and fortunately, that is fine with them. Gee, I guess I have a role to play. They'd probably be disappointed if I became "normal" one day.

On Wikipedia, the article on eccentricity links to the article on Asperger's. So I think aspies are eccentric by default.

I know what you mean. I quite like being the "go-to guy" for questions about obscure pop music, for instance ! Its way easier these days with the Interweb, whatever your allegedly "odd" interest, you can be sure there will be people out there who share it ! And it makes it easier to say "look, this is the way I am".

I'm chatty and eccentric and I find that to be a good thing. I feel more British than Canadian, I speak with a Cockney accent, and I'm also obsessed with London and which were the London Routemasters. You can't get any more eccentric than that. 8)

For those of you who don't know what a Routemaster is:

That photo makes me happy ! We don't have routemasters in LDN any more. I think it was the main reason former mayor Ken Livingstone was ousted by Boris Johnson in the recent election.

I remember being amazed to see a Routemaster bus on a holiday to Niagara Falls. Do you have a lot of them in Canadia then ?

Does otherworldly and scaring translates to eccentric? Or is that already another category?

I don't even know what eccentricity really is...

Anyway, I never ever thought of myself as eccentric.

I'm the stereotypical, mad and uneducated professor many times.

So, yeah.

I do not qualify or tag myself as being "eccentric", I think I am quite normal.

But people sure qualify me as being an "oddball" and being "original".
