this is why i replaced the standard windows sounds with my own. if you want to as well, go into control panel, sounds, and you can manually switch off the ones that bother you.

Here's my solution to computer noises, one that I use quite often:

Have the music up loud to the point where you don't hear yourself clicking or typing, works great!

The only computer noise that drove me nuts was when Tortoise SVN failed to do something, it was this really loud BEEEEUUWWWW sound. I disabled it.
