A classic withdrawal symptom. It's a definite sign that dairy exclusion may be well worth doing long term. :D

I have found that eating prunes/unsulphured dried apricots, or high-fibre fruit-purees, helps speed things up; it empties the guts faster!

But, if you have anything like the same experience as I did the first time that I excluded, ( gluten and casein and sugar together though ), you may wake up on the third/fourth morning feeling wonderful. I hope that you do.

Best of luck. :)

Feeling sad with a huge headache... it occurs to me that you have cut food from your diet causing blood glucose levels to go to low. Are you getting enough to eat?
What have your used to replace milk and wheat products. These foods (although I don't eat them) are important sources of energy / glucose.

Soya milk can be used to make a smoothie. I love soya milk and boysenberries. also soya milk and bananas mixed to make a smoothie.

I find I cannot tolerate wheat - but I can manage pumpernickel bread -- bread made from rye.
You can buy gluten free bread, it's much nicer toasted. I like lemon curd spread on my toast.

Soup is another food which you can make to eat for lunches, or try home made salads using a wide variety of vegetables or fruit.
Baked potatoes or kumara/sweet potato.

Eat heaps of fruit. I like to drink black tea (very weak). Find recipes to make gluten free biscuits.

Cornflakes with soya milk tastes okay --- otherwise just add stewed fruit in juice.

I used to boil up brown rice - and eat this as a replacement grain -- you could turn the rice into a stirfry.

Try to eat enough protein i.e. meats and beans and eggs - this will help to stabilise your blood glucose level.

I let you know if I think of any others. Hope this is helpful.

I laughed because it seemed funny to say that "these foods" were such important sources of energy and then say that you didn't eat them, and then I rolled eyes because it seemed to me that your post suggested that someone would not think of eating enough to satisfy hunger simply because they were excluding dairy products.

If you had read the rest of the thread you would have seen that I had already suggested an egg, or rice cakes/toast with mashed banana and sesame seeds, as appropriate replacement/substitute breakfasts, that there was for the moment no intention to exclude gluten, and also noticed that soya milk was not an option.

Soy is probably the worst thing you can have, unless it's natural and fermented (natto etc).

It's full of phytic acid (blocks absorption of minerals like zinc, magnesium, iron...) and phytoestrogens, it contains high numbers of 'antinutrients' that block a number of amino acids and aren't killed by cooking, the processing loads it up with MSG and carcinogens, it stops the thyroid working properly (loads of goitrogens), wreaks havoc on the pancreas, is a major contributor to female cancers, is highly allergenic, and around 80% is genetically modified.

Definitely not the health food the soy industry would have us all believe.

I knew to buy soya milk that was free from genetic modification. I still believe most things in moderation are okay.

^^ milk and wheat make up a huge component of the western diet - when you are unable to tolerate these foods it can be quite hard to work out what you can and can't eat,
just because I don't tolerate these foods - does not alter the value of these foods.
I don't understand why someone would get a head ache from eliminating gluten from diet.
I know I felt better within three hours of not eating gluten. Reintroduction of gluten would have an immediate effect, confirming my suspicions of problems digesting wheat.

I'm gluten free, and only eat cheese in terms of dairy (usually goat's cheese, which I seem fine with).

For alternative milk sources, rice or almond milk is the best way forward. I don't drink milk of any sort though (never have, not even in hot drinks!) so don't really know about taste sorry.
