Dang, I am 23 days too old.

Anyways, I just had to ask, what do you mean by characters? Just curious.

O, you should also mention whether you are taking all people with autism, or only those with a diagnosis.

Oh tracker you can play too if you want. It is not that strict.

By characters i am thinking of special interests in characters, or i guess celebrities etc. my son for example, is obsessed with John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness of Torchwood), and i have met others with autism obsessed by Dr Who, or Sonic the Hedgehog. I also read a thread here about an interest in Marylin Manson.

I am happy to hear from those who don't have a diagnosis, i am just wary of labelling someone if they don't already identify with an autism/asperger diagnosis.

this seems quite fishy to me, especially as you are asking for young children and apparently aren't doing this research with the backing of any official organization

I have ethical approval from my university to carry out this study.

All of the details of my university, my sponsors, my supervisors, and the ethics committee are on the information sheet.

You are right to be suspicious in this day and age. But nobody has to take part unless they are happy with the information. Parental consent is required for under 16s.

A few comments.

-This does not seem to be presented in a "professional" way.
-We do not know your name.
-We do not know your university.
-There is no transparency.
-We seem to be the ones asking questions, questions that shouldn't have to be asked.

This whole thing looks fishy.

Pardon if there is no ill intent, but you are on the internet, and we do not know you.

My apologies.

I joined this forum as the parent of an aspie rather than a researcher.

Being wary of the internet i was unsure about putting my details on a forum with such a large population. For this reason i will edit my details tomorrow.

I didn't mean to cause any concern.

I see. For some reason i had the impression that this was an official study aimed at improving social services for AS people but in fact it is for the furtherance of your own studies in the hope of attaining a PHD.

Actually WP is hosted in the US, so anything other than parental consent for those under 18 is illegal if you are collecting from people on here
