Does anyone else hear function on a drastically different sleep schedule? Does it cause you trouble?

I woke up at 4 PM today, which was a bit much, although I had gone to sleep at around 3 AM. Usually, I go to sleep around 1 or 2 AM and wake up at around 10:30 AM. Lately though, I have not slept at least one night a week and because of classes wasn't able to catch up till the next night.

I am like this, but it doesn't really bother me.

I call myself the Nocturnal Quilter for a reason. In fact my domain is Nocturnal Quilts.com. I am a natural night owl.

Yes, left to my own devices my natural sleep schedule is something like 5 AM-2 PM.

It causes me trouble because sometimes I have to do things in the morning. :(

I used to be a "night owl", but now I'm on a relatively normal sleeping schedule.

I sleep different hours each day/night, and it doesn't bother me.
There are downsides, but there would be downsides were I wedded to a "normal" or consistent schedule-as it was when I was in school & had no choice.
In adulthood can at last follow my natural inclinations, which vary widely depending on range of factors (each new day/night).

Sleep & wake "as needed", generally prefer being up at night-and asleep in morning.
If I have an appointment, then I may only get couple hours' sleep, then afterwards will have nap. Next day/night I'll get more sleep, and over the weeks, it all evens out to a decent amount of rest, on average. I make charts of when I sleep during each 24-hr. period, and a couple months' worth of them displayed together resemble double helix shape (a la DNA).

I'm a night owl, which makes waking up very early for school or for any other reason very difficult and annoying for me.

oh gosh u have no idea, went to see a sleep doctor recently tells me, oh she doesnt have sleep apnea, or insomnia, or restless leg syndrome, in fact she has a short sleep cycle 3-6 hours a night is all she needs, her usual amount(after a study he did on me) showed i only get on average of 4 hours a night! Can you believe that haha, i was like wow, he was like nothing we can do to help her, yay me...not lol. I use light therapy, weighted blanket, vapor vicks humidifier now, a fan for wind and to block out noise, soon to have black out shades up, special sheets that dont make me itch, tempurmedic mattress top and pillows, and extra blankets and pillows for more weight. Then i also need zest on my hands, need one sock and sleave on for my reynods, need to have my pan/pot to rub and bite lol, and plenty of royal blue things to look at if i stay awake, my ipod close to listen to music to help me sleep, and my cat lol. Sleepin is a huge issue, lately its gotten better with the vapor vicks rub humidifier, you should check into that, the smell u need to get use to though, but def worth a try... good luck, ur not alone hehehe. And yes it causes me tons of trouble haha.

I find keeping to a 'normal' sleep pattern very difficult and have to drink coffee during the day if I get up too early. This has led me to consider a career in something nocturnal (eg night security).

I used to be a night owl, before I've started working.

It depends or differs and althought I'm a night owl, I try to go to bed between 2 and 3am. 'cos otherwise the following day is too much 'broken'. For me it has no use to go to bed before 2am 'cos I can't sleep anyway. While lying and not being able to sleep my thoughts go black and in my experience it is better to get up and do something. Nowadays I'm glad to get 5 hours. At least 5. Shrugs.

Later,
C.
