Addicted to Shopping
Could be your special interest is fashion?
You can try going to the mall for fun and just looking -- don't take any credit or debit cards and no cash. You can keep note of anything you really like and go back after several days if you are still thinking about it. This spoils sales but if you don't really need it, it is not a sale.
Try making up outfits by cutting and pasting images of fashions you like from on-line searches. That is really fun.
I have a program that generates sewing patterns that has endless variations in styles of clothing.
You could also think about why you like to shop. Are you using the items that you buy? What feelings do you have before and after you shop?
I used to think that if I wore more fashionable clothing that I would fit in and have more friends. It is not true. Usually friends want you to dress the same as them but it can be a way of controlling you as well.
Any time we see a pile of interesting stuff on the side of the road, at least one of us will want to stop.
It has been a while since I have dumpster dived, but I have always been a big fan of a good thrift store dumpster. So many of them have trash compactors now
Ohhhh, I used to live behind a Salvation Army...and people would just drop things off by their dumpster and I'd get first pick. I'm not sure if the MRI films, the monochrome jigsaw puzzles or the psychedelic spinning light box was my favorite find....
That would be like having sex without orgasm...I would never STOP thinking about anything I liked...and lie awake nights worrying if they would all be gone before I could get back to bring them home...

What is this "Shopping" you speak of?
Just kidding. I went on an anti-depressant a while ago and it made me impulse buy a lot. Messed up my checking account. That and it made me grit my teeth all the time. They started to hurt. That's why I went off them.
Still I didn't cloths shop. I know exactly what I want as far as cloths. You could say I have my uniform and I only vary it according to if I'm doing dirty work, casual, semi-casual or Formal. Recently I've been combining my casual and semi-casual just to reduce that complexity.
I walk into a store make sure the thing I already have in mind is there, get it, impulse a few things nearby and then leave.
Actually come to think of it, I do shop in the proper sense at Home Depot.
You wanna hear the best bit?
Get a good enough lawyer and you can sue the Pharmecutical Company AND the shrink, not only for everything you spend, but also for your dental work...
WHY didn't I think of that?
Of course, it MIGHT all be a side effect of my regular inhaler?
